Does anybody have any feed back on purchasing and working with....Macy's or private stores? What is the better pick. Considering customer service, alterations, and price... etc

I went to 2 Macy's stores and had a horrible experience with the customer service in both...I don't feel as if you get real individualized attention. They don't really HELP you. In my experience

I got my gown at Macys Demetrios Salon in the Smithhaven mall. So far I have had a great experience. i actually decided that I didnt like my gown and wanted a different style. They worked with me to find the one I loved and didn't charge me to change the order. So far so good on my end!

macys in smithhaven only carries demetrios...its actually owned by demetrios...he rents out the space from macy's

I cant speak to the Smithaven mall macys... but the one in Manhasset is awful.
Customer Service was terrible. The alterations were WORSE!! Two of the four bridesmaid dresses were totally destroyed. PEN INK was on one of the dreses which they had to remove (didnt really work) When the dresses were off the manager came in to argue why they were 'wearable'
Then my sisters dress (which the alterations were fine on) came home with DOT on the skirt. It was too late to do anything about it, and me and my mom didnt tell my sister it was there, otherwise it would have ruined her day!!

All Macy's only carry demetrios. I went to one in NJ, and they were nice, I just didn't find my dress there.

I originally ordered my dress from Smithhaven Macy's and when I went to look else where it was actually cheaper and had capped alterations. I ended up cancelling my order at Macy's b/c I fell in love with a Maggie dress instead. I highly recommend going to private bridal salons. They are more reasonable, especially with alterations.

I went to tw private bridal salons and didn't like anything they had. I had a great experience with the Macy's in Smith Haven Mall. They were courteous, very helpful, and patient. My dress came in early and I also rec'd 15% off the dress, tiara and veil bec. I went during a trunk show. My dress experience was the one experience during all my wedding planning that I can say was terrific. I highly recommend them. I don't know about alterations because I have my own seamstress...I don't need that much done bec. they ordered my dress hollow-to-hem so that it would be the right length (I'm petite).(if you need a great seamstress, let me know!!!)

We ordered our BM dresses from Macy's Manhasset. They were aright although we didn't get their alterations done there.

I went her too for my BMs dresses. They were nice in the beggining but when I went to pick up the dresses its almost like they didnt want to waste their time doing that. They also forgot to order extra length on one of my BMs dresses (after I called to confirm 2x)

I ordered my dress from Macy's Smithhaven. The customer service was incredible. I think it depends on which Macys you go to and who helps you. The women who helped me has a daughter who is getting married so she was super excited and helpful.

I had a good experience iwth the Macy's on 34th Street, NYC. I didnt end up getting my dress there though

My FSIL went to Macys in NYC and she lovesthe service....I went to Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and I love them! I think you shoud startdress shopping and see...often you go with wherever you find the dress as we both did

We only went to the Macy's Bridal shop for my FMIL's dress. Everything seemed to go great, there really wasn't too many people on the floor and there was a good amount of people in the store. The sales woman helped us find any dress we wanted while we were even looking through the catalog. They were very nice and helpful. We found her dress that day and now we are just waiting for it to come in, perhaps I will have more of an opinion after we have finished purchasing everything with them.
I don't remember the area, but it was the Macy's store that is just the store, nothing else. It has a hugeeee parking lot. I forgot where. :(

I went to a private shop called Village Bridal & Boutique in Bablyon Village and I will say the experience was AMAZING. I had heard to many bad things about Macy's so I just decided to go with a private shop.

I went to Princess Bridals in Farmingdale on Hempstead Turnpike. They were very friendly, very helpful and they worked with us on the price. It was the first place I looked. I didn't need to go anywhere else b/c I knew the dress I wanted and would've purchased it from anywhere. But they were very nice in there. If you want to take some suggestions on private stores.
