Macy's messed up my dress

So i went in a few weeks ago to see my dress!!! the lady that does the alterations told me i couldn't get the bottom altered since i didn't have my shoes.. i told her i didn't want it altered yet anyway b/c i have some time... when i walked out they even wanted me to pay them for alterations but i told them i didn't want them to touch the dress... i even called them a few days later to remind them not to touch the dress

sooo..

i go in monday night for my first fitting.. and low and behold.. she altered the top of my dress!! and now it dosn't fit!!! its soooo tight.. she was able to zip it up all the way but i couldn't breath AT ALL..
she said its b/c she put cups in it.. BUT when i tried it on, i tried it with the cups so thats just a lame excuse!

i'm so upset.. i dont know what to do

I had the same thing happen to me.. They had to alter my dress again TODAY.... (Yes, less than 48 hours before my wedding) Then the woman basically implied I must have gained 15 lbs in 6 days.. She told me like 12 times how heavy I got in a week that I felt like I was either going to curse her out or cry... It was an awful experience so I know what you are going through...

Try not to get too upset though.. There is always a way to fix it!!

Ill tell you what to do.

You go to the store. You speak to THE store manager. Be very calm.

But you tell the manager that you specifically told them DONT touch. And she did.

Then you say to the manger they need to fix it. Dont say 'what are you going to do for me?'. You need to tell them what you need.

A refund,
A new dress,
a different alteration
but you sure as hell want ti let out.

Be firm but nice. You will get nothing with vinegar and everything with sugar.

I'm sure you're beautiful and your dress will be perfect on your wedding day!!! Nothing to worry about!


Stef, I'm so sorry they had this 'misunderstanding' with you!!! Fortunately, there is plenty of time for them to do the proper alterations, and they know that! It will fit better than you ever expected once everything is done right. And it WILL be done right!

I honestly wouldn't make a big deal out of the mistake. It's too late to change what was done, so keeping an upbeat and positive attitude about things is really your only defense -- and they'll make it all right so there's no reason to be angry. I know you're upset and annoyed at them and disappointed that this is happening. Vent all you need with us!!! But I promise it will be fixed when you get back there next fitting... it has to! That's their job!

totally agree...be nice but firm. They touched ur dress w/o ur permission. You have every right to get something for it...ie, not having to pay for the alterations you actually need...
You def need to talk to the manager about it. It's unacceptable and you need to get compensated for it.

misunderstanding???? When i got my alterations i had to sign off on what alterations had to be done. did they make you do the same?

nope.. i didn't sign anything.. and i didn't pay for anything (they said they dont alter unless you pay first) so i dong get it!

omg i can't believe they did that when you specifically asked them not to. people need to start listening!!! i agree with juhgall. def. speak to the manager. good luck i hope everything works out
