Macy's Prices...

Does it drive anyone else crazy that the prices at Macy's are CONSTANTLY changing????

I split most of my registry stuff between BB&B and Macy's for the convenience of my guests. However something that is $199 regular price at BB&B is $400 regular price at Macy's...but will sometimes be $199 on sale...ugh!!!!

I'm probably going to transfer almost all items off of that regisrty. How can they chanrge double for almost everything????

Things at Macy's are always going on and off sale. But the way I see it is, people can wait until things go on sale and buy them then. Also, Macy's is constantly putting out coupons in the papers and people that have a Macy's credit card get discounts.

It is REALLY annoying me, too!! And the only reason I registered there was because of what happened with Fortunoff's. I moved everything over. I always had a BBB registry too but they didn't have all the accessories to my china so I had no choice but to go with Macy's. Bloomies didn't have my china at all.

So one weekend, my 5 pc place setting was on sale for $57.50 at Macy's, which is incredible and ever since it has been back up to $121 even though it is supposed to retail for $80.00. Oh well... I mean what can I do. I have no other choice.

Put your items on both registries then. You can return duplicates, and then don't have to worry about where what is cheaper.

I have the same problem with macys and my class has been watching it because I teach business law and we have been talking about deceptive pricing and this is exactly what macys is doing. They raise it only for a few days. Most of the time it is on sale only because one or two days out of the month, they raise it up high.

Also, they don't have much in stock as far as china, crystal, and silver so guest have to order everything and pay shipping. And if you don't live near huntington or roosevelt field or manhattan many of the smaller macys carry almost nothing.

I've often wondered how this works - does anyone have similar experiences with Bloomingdales are they better or worse?

Exact same problem. And I spoke about how Macys marks up their retail prices much higher and then puts the 'sale' prices the same as other competitors. They have been doing this for a long time and it is ridiculous.

also, forgot to say that the prices online are many times cheaper than in stores and when I asked it is because they list the west coast prices on their website. If you bring a copy of the registry printed out from your home computer they will honor the price or have the registry women look up the price on the internet to get the cheaper price.

I had my registry at Macy's and had no problems with it. I lucked out because right before my shower - my china, stemware, and most of my registry items went on sale big time so I much of what we registered for. Between the sale price and using a coupon - it was practically a steal.

And they give you tons of special discounts when you are in the completion faze well beyond the three months after your wedding.

Every company does this... its not just Macy's.

Re: Macy's Prices...

Macy's does that because they're always having sales and promotions that make the items 'regular price'. It is annoying. I told my family to put the word out that anyone wanting to shop for us at Macy's should just wait until the prices are sale prices. Also, I recommend staying with Macy's because of the Star Rewards program. If you have your Macy's Card hooked up to your registry, you'll get 5% cash back on anything anyone buys you from there and 10% cash back on anything you buy from there (doesn't have to be off of your registry). The cash back alone is a reason to keep your registry there, IMO.

Most of my registry is at BBB, BUT things that they don't have I put on my Macys Reg.....Like my formal china pattern....
