Maid of Honor Involvement
How involved are you allowing your maid of honor to be in the planning process?

Maid of Honor Involvement
My MOH is also my FSI who I love very much. MY FI comes from a very close family and is involved in everything (except the dress!!) with the wedding planning. I find myself telling her basically everything that my FI and I picked out because I want her to be included and I value her opinion. She is also very excited about everything so i really do love telling her stuff. It really depends on your situation, do you want them involved, do they have the time to be so involved, etc. Is your MOH very involved or not?

Maid of Honor Involvement
I tell me MOH what is going on and stuff like that...and of course ask her opinion on things...but as far as the planning it has been basically me and my fiance. I guess b/c he is actively involved I haven't needed that much help from others. I did ask her assistance with looking for dress b/c I totally trust her honest opinion. I will probably need her help picking out bouquets and things like that (girly things). Are you having problems?

Maid of Honor Involvement
My sister is my Maid of Honor, my best friend is my Matron of Honor. Both are super involved and offer to help me all the time. I had them both with me when I went for my dress (with my Mom and stepmom too). They have both offered to help me with favors, invites, anything I need. I am very lucky!

No, I'm not having problems. I've been sharing details with my MOH but I realize that maybe I've been sharing too much on the monetary side. I decided I can share details but not costs with her. She thinks everything is too expensive. Part of that is because she's clueless about wedding costs.

That can be frustrating....
I understand now. Luckily my MOH has been in many weddings and knows all about how costly they are. Honestly, until I started planning I also used to think that people were kinda crazy to spend so much on a wedding and now i realize how truly expensive they are (especially in New York). Don't take it personally. It is hard for anyone to understand who either isn't doing it themselves or have a really good concept about it all. Even my father thinks it is pyscho sometimes as he hasn't a clue about it all. It's a good idea to include her but not tell her the costs as much as possible. If you do run into a problem though because she sees the price show her or tell her what the cheaper one is and the difference in quality/amount.

I agree with you angie, I never really understood how expensive a wedding can get, even when you are trying to keep a tight budget...My FH and I are doing something non traditional, my brother is going to be the best man (for me) and his sister is going to be the maid of honor (for him) ie my bro will be standing on my side and his sister on his. I thought this was a great idea at first (didnt' want to pick between three best friends, and am close with my brother) but not having a MOH (her and I are not close) to share things with is awful...

jpsgirl - We kinda have the same arrangement!
His sister is my MOH and my brother is his best man. I don't have any blood sisters nor he any blood brothers and we wanted to be surrounded by family that day. :)

yes, he has only one sister and i have only one brother. the thing is though, i want my brother on my side, like I'm having the best man, you know? this is because his sister has never been very nice to me, but she means the world to him, so I feel she should be on his side...

I think that is awesome. How wonderful it is that you can share this with your brother and he can have so much more fun with it all and be much more involved. I never would have thought that is the reason you were doing it that way... i only would have just thought that both of them are extremely close to their respective siblings. It is a beautiful gesture that I am sure everyone will be very moved by. Good Luck! :)Welcome New Vendors
