Maid of Honor - Matron of Honor

If someone is married, can they still be referred to as a Maid of Honor? Don't like the way Matron of Honor sounds (LOL).

Matron = married woman
Maid = unmarried woman

Yes, I know - but on the program - has everyone referred to their married maids of honors as Matron of Honor?

I would use the correct term, but you can ask your MOH if she minds being called maid if she's really a matron.

My sister is MOH and has been married for 14 years, so she's the matron of honor in my programs. don't want people to think she's no longer married

Honestly I don't think it matters if you like how it sounds. You should do it the correct way. Its like saying you dn't like the way Mrs. sounds so you are going to call them Miss. Its just wrong.

Think it sorta has to be what it is. Matron is a married person so if you use 'maid', it implies that the girl is not married. But it is YOUR day so you can do whatever you want!
