Mailing Invitations Questions

So how does the process work at the post office. Do I bring all the invites, have them weighed, and then purchase a book of wedding stamps???Im so clueless about anything that has to do with the post office

Take one invitation fully stuffed with everything and have them weigh it. They will tell you exactly how much postage is needed and then you buy stamps the response card will just need 41cent stamp.

maybe this is a dumb question, but why isn't the response card just a regular stamp? does the rsvp really weight more than a regular letter?

it depends on ur invite i guess...but usually with all the stuffings(direction cards to church & reception, reception card, hotel accomadation card(if any), plus rsvp card&envelope)...it all adds to the weight...i had all of that plus a wax seal on my invite so i had to purchase the 63cent stamps.

Dont worry, they'll walk you through the whole thing!! They will both WEIGH and MEASURE the envelope for you - there's also extra postage for 'oversized' envelopes - not the weight, but the dimensions. Mine were pretty 'light' but were a large envelope so domestic ones were .75 each to mail. RSVPs were the standard .41

If you're sending any outside of the USA make sure to separate those so you don't inadvertently put domestic postage on them.

Oh and I also got the UGLIEST stamps because I waited so long to mail 'em and had to settle for what they had available. They were black and white with a profile of Susan B. Anthony on em.

I couldnt care less but i know some brides get twisted about that kind of thing

DH and I are admitted design snobs and you should have seen the hullabaloo over finding 'the right stamps'. Didn't care about tuxes, didn't care about bo-ks, but the stamps on the envelope, good lord!

Was just going to say that same thing.
