MAKEUP TRIAL VENT/QUESTION HELPPPPPP
SORRY IT’S A NOVEL BUT I REALLY NEED TO VENT AND GET AN OPINION ON THIS! THANK YOU LADIES!
So I went for my first makeup trial EVER and I am sooooo livid at this point and just so upset! So I went to Helene The Art Of Makeup in Brooklyn and to say it went badly would be an understatement.
Let’s see where to start. First off I was seeing Helene THE OWNER and she was running late, which normally is NOT an issue for me, BUT she comes RUNNING IN and tells me to come to the back and sit down.
As I’m sitting there she’s pulling out foundation and before I can even say a word she’s got foundation colors out on her hand and I’m still just trying to talk to her to tell her the look I’m trying to achieve. I didnt even get a chance to ask about airbrush because shes putting foundation on me. Shes like ok come on tell me what kinda dress do you have? What colors are the girls wearing? And shes putting makeup on me ALREADY before even knowing what I WANT!
I try to show her the pictures I brought with me and I mean she is clearly rushing through this and from the outcome didn’t listen to a word I said to her.
SHE TELLS ME AIRBRUSH IS WATERPROOF AND NOT SWEATPROOF SO SHE DOESNT THINK I SHOULD USE AIRBRUSH! IS THIS TRUE?????????????
I explained to her that I don’t like HEAVY eye makeup and I don’t like the HEAVILY made up look. I want to of course stand out and look gorgeous and I want my eyes to pop BUT I don’t like heavy makeup. I showed her the pics of the light colors I like and other girls whose makeup I liked. Well my eyes came out HEAVILY made up in dark brown. It looked like an amateur who attempted to do a smokey eye and messed it up. She put false eyelashes on me and didn’t put them in the proper place so there was space between the eyelashes and my lid and therefore there was space still there between that and the liner. The eye shadow was barely blended and she didn’t even cover up my under eye circles.
She couldn’t have gone anymore POLAR OPPOSITE than what I asked for. And at first from far away I thought it wasn’t bad but you know when you get home and really look at yourself and more so when I got outside I looked at myself and I HATED IT! She made my face one color and my neck was another, the eyes were SOOO heavily made up after I asked for her not to. And I was just angry with the way I treated. She RUSHED me out of there so quickly; she didn’t spend any time talking to me. She didn’t give me a chance to really look at myself and see if I truly liked it. NEVER put a veil on me NOTHING!!!!!!!!!
Then I brought my mother with me who wanted to try also because my mother NEVER wears makeup and she just wanted to go for a trial as well. WELL I wanted to CRY when I seen what she did to my mother. She made her look like a drag queen clown! My mother asked her to NOT go heavy with makeup. She’s an older woman and believes the more you cake it on the worse it looks so she would like a natural look to just brighten up her naturally light features. My mom is a blonde haired, blue eyed, light skin kind of woman. She put on HEAVY black eye liner and HEAVY black mascara, HEAVY dark eye shadow ALL over her lid, dark lipstick, darkened my mother’s naturally light eyebrows to a VERY SCARY DARK brown and to top it all off, BRIGHT PINK CAKED ON BLUSH. It looked like someone put the makeup on in the dark and she had the balls to tell my mom she looked BEAUTIFUL! My poor mother looked like she aged 20 years in 10 minutes. Because mind you she did my mother in 10 minutes put her coat and walked out. And I’m not exaggerating.
And while my mother is getting her makeup done they have my filling out paperwork and just rushed me so fast I couldn’t process it all to be honest. I realized what she did after I left there and the more I think about it the more livid I become.
Now she apologized profusely but she had to get back to another customer which is why she was late in the first place. She DID in fact offer me a 2nd FREE trial and that she will spend more time with me next time. And apologized and apologized. She gave me a hug and next time I promise Ill spend time with you. I will give you a free trial so we can really go over everything. If you liked what I did today we can do that again for you and your mom. LIKE WHAT YOU DID? I DO A BETTER JOB ON MY OWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I paid and STUPID ME I even tipped her like $10 cause IM an IDIOT!
BUT I feel like you want me to trust you with THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY OF MY LIFE and THIS is how you make your 1st impression on me????
She left such a bad taste in my mouth I don’t care what she does next time I won’t be booking her. I just don’t appreciate that she wasted my time, and I don’t know that I want to waste ANOTHER day on HER! When I could be using that day to go to another artist. It would have been better for HER and me if she would have called me when she realized she was running late and asked me to reschedule because I am sooo mad right now I would prefer to call her back and ask her for a refund that I don’t want to go back. I feel it was an insult to ME to tell my mother she looked beautiful after what she did to her.
Now I need an opinion. Do I go back for the free 2nd trial and see if she does a better job? OR do I call her and tell her I would prefer a refund after the way I was treated. WHATS YOUR OPINION ON THIS PLEASE HELP GIRLS!
