We've got engaged begining of this year and we immediately began seeking ceremony and reception sites. We booked the site for November next year but today I calculated dates in part around my period. I found out my wedding date is the DAY BEFORE MY PERIOD (I'm on the pill, so I can predict). If I move my wedding date and going later will put us into cold weather which I do not want..... . I do not want to get married feeling fat & bloated, cranky, with pimples. And I do not want to spend my honeymoon on my period. I'm thinking of going to my doctor and saying, 'Mess with my hormones, please...' I'm considering getting off the pill for a few months to try to rearrange all of this. Has anyone you know done this? Are you considering it? Am I nuts?

Re: Managing my period
just take them continuously like the other girls said, I did that once bc I was going to be in Bermuda and didnt want my period that week, I just skipped the sugar pills and went on to the next pack. The Dr. said that was fine just to finish out the second pack and after that was done I got my period.
Don't mess with your hormones just stick to the pill

Re: Managing my period
You can manipulate your period when you're on the pill...I used to do it all the time when I had something I didn't want my period for lol.
So either stop taking it the week before your wedding, and you will get it a week early, or instead of taking the placebo pills for the last 7 days, start a new pack right after..and then you won't have a period.
Or talk to your doctor about going on seasonal, so you only have your period once every 3-4 months.

i tried the whole keep-taking-the-pill-to-skip-your-period thing in the past for the sake of sparing an expensive vacation from my female annoyance--it wasn't very effective. what i ended up with was a long, drawn-out, half-a$$ period that prevented me from fooling around for longer.
Same thing would happen to me, so now I've learned. To plan my period to have it at a certain time, I stop taking the pill to make me get it and then I start an entire new pack. Has worked better for me

Re: Managing my period
My SIL skipped a month of her period. I think she just kept taking the white pills and the week she was supposed to get her period, she started the next month's pills. I am pretty sure that is how she did it, but I would ask a doctor to be safe.

Re: Managing my period
I when i used to be on the regular Ortho pills, i would continue taking the sugar pills to skip it if it was inconvenient.
I also took Seasonale for the last few years. You could talk about that with your doctor and then you could have a bigger window of time to manage around your period.
There is also the shot like Depo Provera where you don't get your period at all, but i had awful luck with it. I gained a bunch of wait and my hair and skin got all greasy (i'd never been oily before).

Re: Managing my period
Wow...I thought I was the only one who was in the same situation. My wedding is next August...and I calculated every month for the next year and a half and sure enough I get my period 2 days before. What are the chances of that...lol. But I am on the pill and am going to skip it too. But I think I will skip it in like June to manipulate the week in August. Last time I skipped it I didn't have my period for the week but then spotted the rest of the month.

Re: Managing my period
You can definitley do the skipping of the sugar pills but I'm pretty sure that you need to be on the type of bc that gives the same does of hormones each week. If each week the color of your pills is the same than you can just start the next pack in place of the sugar ones...but if each week the shade of pills changes a little than you might not be able to do that. I'll let you know...I have an appt with my ob/gyn this month to find out and change my pill if I have to!!
