Marinating time

Marinating time

I have boneless chicken cutlets defrosting in the refrigerator right now.

I am going to king kullen after work to buy a few things, and I was thinking about buying creamy italian dressing, and Marinating the chicken cutlets in this dressing.

How long do you think is long enough for the chicken cutlets to marinate? Will I have to leave them over night, or do you think 3 hours will do the trick?

Should I cook them on the Geroge Foreman, or do you have any other ideas on how to cook them?

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Marinating time

here are suggested marinating times

Marinating times - for optimum flavor:
Beef and pork (steaks, roasts, chops and cubes): 3 to 24 hours
Chicken: 3 to 24 hours
Boneless, skinless chicken breast halves: up to 3 hours
Delicate fish (flounder, cod, halibut): 15 minutes
Stronger fish (tuna, shrimp, salmon): 30 minutes
Vegetables (sliced): 15 minutes to 1 hour

Re: Marinating time

I have never marinated in a creamy dressing, just the zesty Italian one.

Instead of putting the chicken on the GF grill, take a marinated chicken breast, place on Aluminum foil, add veggies, top off with a little more dressing, close up foil to make a package and bake in the oven, Yummy and eashy cleanup!!

I have done it many different ways but I also recommend doing the aluminum foil with veggies we love it that way.

My hubby likes it also marinated. When I cook it I carmalize onions and peppers and serve over white rice. Sometimes I make fried rice, depending on the marinate

If I make it the tin foil way, How long do I let it cook for, and should I poke holes on top of the tin foil?

I usually set it up (the chicken & the marinade) either during breakfast that morning or the night before last thing before I go to bed.

Is this with fresh or frozen veggies??

Sounds good and easy!!

Re: Marinating time

I use fresh veggies....onions, peppers, brocolli, tomatos stand up pretty good to the baking.

Re: Marinating time

The Worcheshire (sp??) sauce for chicken is a great marinade. I usually add some of my favorite seasonings put it in a ziploc for an hour or so in the fridge. If I think about it I will do it overnight, but usually I just do it when I come home.

Extra virgin OO with your favorite seasonings is a great marinade also

I will use fresh veggies....But I can only use Peppers, onions or mushrooms...Danielle doesnt like anything else. If it was up to me I would put broccoli, and other yummy veggies in there.

Re: Marinating time

so make one with your favorite veggies and one with hers!! That is the beauty of this recipe...each portion is wrapped individually so you can add what ever you like!!

Re: Marinating time

I actually marinate them when I buy them and stick them in freezer bags and right in the freezer... so the juice really soaks in..

Once they defrost, I put them in the oven in a pan with a little beer to coat the bottom of the pan. shhh... don't tell DH that I use his beer.. LOL He thinks that it's nice that I have an open can of beer for him when he walks through the door... LOL

hey.. guess what we're having tonight?!?! Chicken Cutlets! LOL

Enjoy!

Re: Marinating time

Marinades work best when you ahve something acidic (like lemon, lime or even orange juice) that starts to break up the meat, and then an oil to move the marinade around...it's all very scientific I'm not sure that chicken will actually soak in any of the creamy italian dressing...
