I have no idea how this works and pardon me if this is a stupid question but after you are married and the marriage certificate is signed how long does it take to come back?? I am asking because I need my marriage certificate to prove to UK customs that I am married to a Brit. Andrew wants to book his tickets for August, but doesn't know for how long because this depends on how long the marriage certificate takes to come back (he has to be there at the UK embassy in New York with me).
Any feedback would be wonderful.

You should get it within 1-2 wks maybe sooner depends how fast they get it done....

make sure that you tell your officiant that it is urgent that he get it out ASAP! The longer it takes for hime to get the ball rolling, the longer it'll take you guys. I think that you should have it back within two weeks

Better than that, not only make sure he sends it back fast but make sure he sends it back COMPLETE. Ours wasnt, we have been married over one month and it may be another month before we see it.

We got ours in the mail 1 month after the wedding. We got our license in NYC. LI town halls may process the marriage certificate faster.

yes make sure you mention it to your officiant. i am in the same situation. i need the certificate so that i can get a visa in my passport to go over to live with FH (in australia). talk to the town hall and your officiant.
