Marriage License

Marriage License

For all the ladies that have applied already, where did you go in Long Island? Also I see that a birth certificate 1 of the documents required, does it have to be an original one? Did anyone use a baptismal certificate instead? If so, did you request one from the church or do you use the original one when you were baptized?

You will need original documents with the raised seal.
For baptismal certificate I would use the original one you have, they only make a copy, they don't keep it.

We went to babylon and used our original birth certificates. If needed you can go to the town hall where you were born to get an official copy with the raised seal, I think the fee is usually between $10 & $20.

We went to Oyster Bay - Its was difficult to park but we were in and out in a few minutes. Used our original birth certificates, just make sure it isn't ripped bc then they wont accept it.

I went in massapequa. I brought my birth certificate but they said it was the wrong one. I was lucky that I also brought my baptismal certificate, and they accepted that.

I was able to find my birth certificate but it has stamped signatures from the doctors/hospital. It does have a raised seal so I guess that makes it original. I also have my baptismal certificate also with a raised seal from my birth year so I should be fine. Thanks for your help. I think Massapequa is where I'll be going.

I just had to get my birth certificate yesterday because I couldn't find mine. The marriage license office is right down the hall from that office in hempstead. They were all really helpful so I think I'm going there!!

No problem. It was really quick, we were in and out in ten minutes.

Does it matter where you go to get a marriage license? My FH thinks that since we are getting married in suffolk we have to get a license from there, but i told him no we can go wherever because it is a new york license overall. Any i right or wrong?

Very true. Had my priest tell me the same thing.
