I'll probably just get mine done in the morning and then go to work. FH has limited days to take off and we need them all for the wedding and Honeymoon.

They should consider weekend hours...

just so y'all are aware:

in Nassau or Suffolk county the license is $40, and you need your drivers license and usually a certified copy of your birth certificate, baptismal records, etc.

In NYC, its $35, and you just need your drivers license.

yes, this is def good to know bc fh and i both didnt have our birth certificates and we live in suffolk but we drove into queens because we're lazy and didn't wanna deal with the hassle of getting certified copies... worst part is that we're complete morons and we need them for our passports anyway! lol.

but to answer the original question, we worked in the morning and left early. the only issue with that was that we hit major traffic and BARELY made it there on time!! so i def suggest filling the form out online first!!

We just went yesterday to get ours in Queens...and they make you stand outside!!!! Its a really small room so when its too congested they have a line for people to stand outside. Then you go in and fill out all of the paperwork. It took us about 2 1/2 hours total and we got there at 10:30 am...

I am bookmarking this thread - thanks for the info.

I've got 1 question - if you get the License say, 1 month before the wedding, is it ok to immediately start filing Name Change documents (SS, credit cards, etc) or should I wait til after the wedding day to do so?

when filing name change documents you need the marriage certificate. you receive that in the mail after the person marrying you (priest, rabbi, etc) mails the signed marriage license to the state.
