Marrying Croatian?

Original post by tarakinspa

Found out that there is a few of us out there so i thought id start a thread for us

There definetly is a need to impress attitude amongst their culture which drives me nuts because my wallet is not big enough.

I went through a whole issue with MIL and my bridal shower, she wanted a fancy place, my mom didnt nor could she afford it but I told my mom it is her thing and forget about what they say.

I am having a croatian band in addition to my Dj which is fine, I actually really like the music, it is happy and fun to dance to.

I love my FIls despite the fact that they are pushy and hard headed they want the best for us which isnt a bad thing just as a bride-to-be makes things a little more difficult. i learn not to bring it up lol

So instead I can talk about it here

I talked to my friend & she said that when they got married the band was called Extasy the singers name is Marty. When the Croatian Soccor club (in Astoria) has affairs they've hired Marty.

I've heard of Extasy, I'm sure John knows for sure who they are!

Re: Marrying Croatian?

no idea but I think the ones mentioned are a good indication.

SO is everyone having a Viennese?
OctBride03 Posted:

Re: Marrying Croatian?

No vienesse here.... mini vienesse on each table.

Re: Marrying Croatian?

My croatian MIL says you 'have' to have a viennese that that is what she waits for, my maitre d knew I didnt see the point so he gave me an incredible price, i am gonna do it, watermill does a pretty nice job with it I hear, i just hate that it interrupts the dance floor.

Re: Marrying Croatian?

So is there anything special you guys are doing to honor the croatian culture at the wedding?

Re: Marrying Croatian?

I am Croatian too! Its funny, how i have never met another Croatian unless i would actually go to Croatia, yet all of your seem to have found them lol! i think it must be because i live in Brooklyn.

Re: Marrying Croatian?

I am using Bravo Sound. They apparently have Croatian music, since i wanted to do the dj thing. The fiancee loves Croatia and the music, but didn't want a Croatian wedding. I don't blame hims since the family i have here is small and most the guests might not appreciate it. So we are filtering in our heritages, but keeping it mostly American.

Kako si! My FI is Croatian too We took a class together at Queens College, him to brush up and me to learn beginners Croatian, I only know a few words. Do the Croatian bands have a website? I would like to check them out. I've been to the Croatian club in Astoria too, this is too funny!

This is so funny! My FI is Croatian. I never met any Croatian people before I met him. I never even knew where Croatia was before I met him. He wishes he knew a little more about his culture. He hasn't been to Croatia since he was 15, but we want to go to Croatia for our honeymoon. He has a very Croatian first name! I wish I knew more about his culture. I know there is supposed to be a big Croatian church in the city and he was baptized there. My FI is sitting here trying to dictate this reply!

Is Croatian the same as serbo-croation because I always wanted to learn that language but I could never find a school that taught it. Could you FM me some information about the class at QUeens College. Thanks!
