I think it's 5 years per COUNT maximum. I don't think she'll serve any time anyway. She'll get a big fine, a suspended sentence and community service. That's my guess at least.

I agree with this.

Look at Lizzie Grubman - she drove her car into a bunch of people and served a whole 30 days.

Probably right. And even though she has lost tons of her fortune...the fine is pennies to her.

A Woman thing, I have to laugh! It is because she broke the law !!! And the fact that lied to the feds........

Good! She was guilty!!!! & not b/c she was a woman - I don't think the fine was high enough! Didn't she save Millions by trading early?

YEAH!!!

This restores my faith in the justice system!! Well, that is, if they send her to jail!! To me the evidence was overwhelming.

She was a broker, come on!! she knew the rights and the wrongs of what she was doing!

my only issue is...how on earth do you not sell after hearing something like that?

just b/c some schmuck opened his big fat mouth means that she has to sit on that info and suck up the loss?

I know thats the law and she was found guilty of it...but come on...how many of us would not sell?

I'm glad she was found guilty - I cannot stand her and yes - she did brealk the law. She won't be gone fora long time though - maybe she will never step foot ina cell.

she would've never had the info if someone didn't tell her-
but- if you put in perscpective... what was a few hundred thousand to her? she should've taken the loss- and her own stock would still be worth more today - dumb move on her part.

Shelzyp - but she lied to the feds!!!!

I know others have gotten away with it but it doesn't mean she (or anyone else for that matter) should! I don't buy the 'she's a woman' thing. Look at the Enron men, the Rigas family (Adelphia), Denis Kowalski, and Sam Waksal. Sam didn't get away with anything and he's a man!

I agree. I'm so sick of the argument 'Well, other people have done worse things, and they got away with it.' How is that valid? No one should get away with committing crimes.

then send kenneth lay to jail.

If I had the power to, I would - and the rest of them too! Denis Kowalski with his $30G weekend parties on Greek islands...gold shower curtains....all the while the earnings that his company was making were false. Disgusting.

Will there still be Martha Stewart Living magazines?...those are all I really care about!!!

Yeah I thought about that too!
I think she has to resign totally from the company now. But her stuff does sell, so I don't know if they'll just take her name off the magazines and change the name of her products.

The WOMAN has hundres of millions of dollars.... You win some you lose some. What she did was COMPLETELY unethical. I mean she was a BROKER!!! Not too mention the head of a public company. I can't wait till the lawsuits start coming... she owes her SHAREHOLDERS big time because what she did while CEO of a public company cost alot of people $$$$$$$$.

All for a few hundred thosuand~~~ GREEDY!!!!
