Re: Mass or no Mass
we did a full mass and i was very happy that we did.
the only thing i can say is don't pick a ceremony because you think it will be faster.......i had a full mass and was out of church in about 50 minutes (i told the priest not to make the homily long because i would have my 2nd graders there). on the flip side my friend who got married 4 weeks after me had only a ceremony, and we were there for an hour

Re: Mass or no Mass
I'm not doing the mass. As a kid, we weren't religious, so I never went up for communion. As an adult and wedding guest, I never went up either, and ALWAYS felt awkward during that part.
I have since been baptized but, my church said that they don't do a mass at a wedding anyway.........

I just wanted to piggyback off of this comment. I'm Catholic, go to church every week and did not have a full mass. I find that at full masses a lot of people don't know what to do - when to sit, kneel etc and also don't know how sacred it really is to receive communion, Many non-Catholics actually go up to get communion since they don't know better.
I would say if you're going to have a full mass, be ready to receive communion yourself - go to confession first that way you are able to get communion.
Stepping off of my Catholic soapbox now...

Re: Mass or no Mass
Greek weddings are diff so this doesnt really apply to me, but as a guest I would personally prefer the shorter ceremony (no mass). It's too drawn out and makes ppl who dont receive communion feel awkward. But if your family and friends are religious, chuch-going folks, I say go for it.
