I want a particular color for bridesmaids, like a bright blue aka peacock, cornflower, oasis or something blue around there and although I can find loads of dresses in this color, I tried looking up tuxedo vests and none of them even come close! They are either really aqua and blinding or darker like towards royal or navy.
Also, I was looking for an ivory colored dress, doesn't that mean that the groomsmen will have to wear ivory shirts? Will ivory shirts, with bright blue vests and black tux jacket look stupid? Do guys get to try the combos on beforehand, cause I have no idea how to match the guys and girls.
I was planning the girls' stuff and totally forgot about the guys and if they'd look bad or not.
Any help or ideas?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally like the blue vests with white shirts. But it's your day!

I like the blue vests with white shirts. The color pops out at you.
I was told by our tuxedo and gown places that if the bride is wearing ivory then everyone in the party has to as well...that means ushers, dad, grandpas...all that will be in the pics as the BP. It's because white next to ivory makes it look 'dirty'.....

if davids bridal has a color that is close to what your looking at men's wherehouse will have a matching vest and tie/bowtie for it they are the same company as i was told and they will have every color maybe not in all the patterns but they are there. try looking on the MWTUX.com site.
OH...ANOTHER THING. My tuxedo place said that we could keep the guys all in a black plain vest and then using the extra material from the BM alterations...he's make hankies for all the tuxes to get a prefect match of color. i thought that was a great idea too!

I have ivory issues just like you...I feel like it looks as if the men need a case of bleach. Oh well. What about a silver vest, or a color that accents the blue? I like the black vest/tie idea with the blue pocket square.
If the Bride's gown is ivory, does it change any part of the men's attire?
If you are considering a white tuxedo and your bride's dress is ivory, you should probably switch to ivory. The general rule of thumb is that everyone should be all in ivory or all in white. While you don't have to follow this, it will help everyone look the same in your wedding pictures.

If the bridal gown is ivory, what color should the shirts be?
Try to color coordinate the color of the bridal gown and the shirts. This is done to minimize a sharp contrast in pictures between the bride’s gown and the mens' apparel. An ivory gown next to a white shirt may make the gown look yellow or faded.

Re: Matching Bridemaids and Groomsmen! Ahh!
Hey everyone, thanks for your responses! I haven't bought my dress yet, thank goodness, so I think I am going to have to select a white one, because I see that blue would go best with white shirts. I see the points about ivory looking dirty too, and I guess I could control my bridal party and parents but everybody else would do what they want and if they wore white that would look bad. As for the black vest and blue handkerchief accents, it sounds like a great alternative but I know guys are always warm and for August putting them in all black would be too mean. I think I will stick to finding a white dress to coordinate with white shirts so that everything looks better together with the blue.
Thanks for everyone's help and votes, it really helped me out!

WOAH!!! Get the color dress that looks the best on you...don't take the men's shirts into consideration!!!!!! All eyes are on you...so if you look gorgeous in ivory don't worry about the boys!
