so heres my ?... im having a shell/starfish/sand dollar theme.. and im having a horrible time picking colors and a BM dress that flatters everyone and im really leaning towards black and everyone is saying that black doesnt 'go' with my theme... can i do black t-length dresses for a 'beach' theme June wedding???
second ?... s i LOOOOVE gerber (sp?) daises and thats what my girls will have and my bo-k is roses and daises.. my CP on the other hand has neither of those flowers.. should i change it and make the CP match mine and the girls flowers.. my mom says yes.. i say 'who cares'
HELP ME! before i go insane

Re: matchy matchy...
First off, I have a gerber theme so I am partial, I do not think your cp's have to match your bo-k's at all. On the other hand I thing a color would look better for a bm dress other than black for a summer beachy theme wedding, do a nice light blue maybe. This is my color, it is called crystal blue
don't go insane I think the idea of people having themes is Fantastic (havent thought of one yet for myself or know if i am doing one yet ) But dont focus so much on having EVERYTHING be with your theme. Its okay! I think it will be wonderful either way!
If you really like a color for your BM dresses and it may not go, don't stress somethings dont have to match so perfectly!
However, I feel the same way about dark colors in a summer wedding, We are getting marrie din Aug i love brown, but think it maybe too dark. IDK maybe not, black might be too dark for june, but who says there are rules anyway?
Meg werent you going with the blue?
as far as the flowers go, i honelty dont think anyone will notice if the centerpieces match the bok's. to be honest every wedding ive attended ive noticed the bok and not the centerpieces or rather, i never connected the 2. so if youwant to do it differently, go for it! I think the Bok's are more importannt because they will be in all your pictures so focus on what you love for that and if it is gerber daiseys so be it!

Re: matchy matchy...
Camacho had black dresses but the girls had a flower in their hair which made it look more relaxed and beachy. FH and I are doing a bit of a beach theme too, but my girls will be wearing black as well.
(click on products, then necklaces) - check out that starfish one! I met the chick that does them. She custom makes them - so if you wanted the starfish one in a different color - or any other one with different color beads, she can do it!
If you want black, go for it megs!

Meg don't stress! What happened to the turquoise color? I know you said your cousin is using blues but I'm sure it wouldn't be the same shade or dress.
As for the flowers the Gerbera daisies are beautiful!!! You definitely don't have to make the bouquets and centerpieces match.
Good luck on deciding and keep us updated!

I love the seashell necklace idea for tying in the wedding theme!
Not crazy about black for summer, but like you said, you could always accent it with bright, upbeat colors.
The sand colored dresses was a good idea too, but be careful that they're not too muted. You definitely want to stand out from your bridal party in your pictures!

Re: matchy matchy...
ok so here are my opinions:
the CPs and the BoKs are never really near each other or anything so they can be totally different no biggie - the daisies will be awesome
as for black - i think with the right accesories it will soo nice
BUT
as someone who would love to have a summer wedding i feel like you have SO MANY colors to choose from - what about an orange like the color in my albums - or the sand color suggested. . . maybe if you find a dress first you will love a color that the dress comes in
GL!

Re: matchy matchy...
I am doing a beach theme too with tons of shells, starfish, etc. I am doing a sky blue, sea blue and sand color swatch for the wedding. I am using all blue hydragengas, dark blue delphinium and sahara roses (sand colored) This is something what I am looking to put my girls in. I dont know if the blue color will show, but it is a really simple tea-length that I think will look good on all of my girls. I also think you can do black. But definitely dress it with a cute necklace or a flower in the hair. I love that idea.
Have you considered adding a color belt to the black dresses?

Re: matchy matchy...
ok well thanks for all the responses... the dress were 90% going with i didnt think came in any bright colors but i just went and did some investigating and yes it comes in both turquoise and hot pink and sage so im really excited about that!
heres the dess Strapless for MOH and Halter for BMs
We were thinking black cuz it would flatter everyone and make the t-length a little more 'evening'

That dress is really nice...what if you went with the black dress, a colored sash, earrings and necklace. With the flowers it would look beautiful!

Re: matchy matchy...
the centerpieces can be anything . I wouldnt worry about not matching with the bo-k's. I personally wouldnt do black dresses because i think you should have some lighter color because of the beachy theme. Just my opinion
