Who saw it tonight, and what did you think? We saw it but I don't want to post anything because I don't want to ruin it. All I'll say is I have more questions now then I did before, and I'm a little pi$$ed about that.

ETA: If you're reading this post then I hope you're ok with knowing what happened.

Oh Jenn...I loved it!!!! just a few questions...but I think they did that to leave it up to our imagination...

I thought the movie was great, but I was disappointed that my questions weren't answered. I'm left thinking there should be a fourth one.

And do you think Neo is dead?

I do believe that Neo is dead...

1. Lawrence Fishbourne said in 2 interviews I heard that the 1st matrix was about birth...2nd - life...and the 3rd - death

--so that fits in that he is dead BUT I think that Sati could possibly be the next 'one' (from the first matrix - it was said that a man was born within the matrix and had the ability to manipulate it - like sati did in the end)

2. the Matrix has a lot of Christian themes and Neo represents Jesus...and his 'death' is very similar.


how good was bane? he did such an awesome job at Smith...


the only things that I was disappointed in was that some parts the spelled out a little too much...and they could have given the viewers a bit more credit...like having the Oracle laying where Smith was...I knew while Smith was talking 'every beginning must have an end' was the Oracle..

AND

that Merovingian, Persiphone and Sereph didn't play too much of a role...but I like the Matrix scenes in all the movies better than Zion scenes...so that is just me...


for a split second at the end, I thought the Oracle was going to tell the Architect 'your move' like they were playing a game with the humans....but oh well

I think Neo is dead as well, but it does give a chance for them to bring him back in a 4th if they want because they didn't 'officially' say he was dead.

Questions I have:

How did Smith get so powerful? He was the top agent in the first movie, but then you thought he died. To only find out that he's still alive and that he's very powerful. How did that happen? Was it when Neo touched him? Or was Smith always his equal? And how did Smith come back to begin with?

In the first one Trinity makes a reference that everything the Oracle has told her has come true, except? Except what? They never said what didn't come true.

How long has Morpheus been in Zion? He makes reference in the first one that he's been around since the beginning. But we find out in number 2 that there have been 5 programs before. So when was the beginning for him.

Are we to assume that Neo is always the one? I thought no, then I thought yes, now I think no again.

Why was Neo in Limbo?

That's all I can think of for now as questions.

I agree that Neo was similar to the Jesus. He was their saviour and he sacrificed his life in order for others to live and be free.

I also like the Matrix scenes more than the Zion scenes. But in this movie I felt it was more Zion than Matrix.

I love Trinity so I was upset that she died. I also thought that she was going to have more to do with this than loving him. I understand that their love was what made him make the choices that he made, but I thought she was going to be something even bigger in the end.

I just spoiled it for myself, but honestly it's not that bad, I still can't wait to see it. Truthfully, you have to watch it 6 or 7 times just to catch on to a lot of the meaning...so this thread will count as 1 for me.

well smith was neos counterpart...so as neo grew Smith grew...and I think in Reloaded Smith said something that Neo did something to him...was now part of him...

1) in the car when neo is on his way to the oracle...but trinity doesn't finish b/c she doesn't want neo to know that she is supposed to fall in love with him

this is part of a timeline I have that the AP put together from the movies and animatrix

2100 — Machines create the Matrix, a dream-like world set in 1999, to extend the lives of the comatose human batteries.

2105 — The first human known as The One, locked in bondage inside the Matrix, learns he can manipulate the world through thought and manages to break free. Seeks sanctuary in the underground human stronghold of Zion.

2105-2150 — Zion resistance movement created, although The One later dies under unexplained circumstances.

2161 — Morpheus born in a Matrix womb; freed in childhood.

2167 — Trinity born in a Matrix womb; freed in early childhood.

2175 — The Oracle prophesizes that Morpheus will discover the second coming of The One.

2199 — Trinity and Morpheus discover Neo, a hacker in the Matrix. They free him and do battle with Agent Smith, a program designed to rid the Matrix of humans who detect its flaws.

The Trinity part I'm thinking of is right before Neo fights Smith. As she's getting into the phone booth. That's when she said to him that everything the Oracle has told her has come true,except...?

Everything else you said is a pretty good understanding of things.

The timeline...refers to it as being the second coming of The One. But wouldn't this be the 6th coming? Or is it because Morpheus doesn't know about the other 'Ones' that he thinks it's the second coming?

So many questions!!! I'll just have to wait for the 3rd one to come out on DVD so I can watch all three in one day and try to put ALL of it together.

Trinity: Neo, I want to tell you something, but I'm afraid of what it could mean if I do. Everything the Oracle told me has come true. Everything but this.
Neo: But what?

I think what she was trying to tell Neo in the subway was that she loved him, yet Neo is not the One at that point (in the film her reaction to Neo saying, 'I'm not The One.' She's shocked 'cause she's fallen for him, yet he's not [yet] the man that the Oracle said he'd be).

Using background culled from the three movies and 'Animatrix' shorts, The Associated Press compiled an estimated timeline of the war between men and machines:

2010-60 — Humans create humanoid drone robots with Artificial Intelligence to fill jobs as construction laborers and servants.

2069 — The hovercraft transport ship Nebuchadnezzar, later to be captained by Morpheus, is constructed in the United States.

2075 — AI programs evolve and some robots began to resent their human overlords.

2077 — In the first case of a machine rising up against its owners, the butler robot B166ER slaughters two humans, leading to B166ER's eradication and a backlash against robots and artificial intelligence.

2080-85 — Rioting and violence against machines prompts robots to flee major cities and establish their own community — known as Zero One — in a remote part of the Middle East.

2085-2095— Zero One thrives, creating superior vehicles, computers and weaponry and decimating the economies of many human nations, which now lack the machine-based labor that made them strong.

2096— United Nations officials refuse to accept the robot civilization of Zero One as a sovereign nation. A trade blockade of robot goods leads to war.

We're going to rent the Animatrix this weekend to see if that clears up some things.

its definitely interesting...they are short stories - so you don't have to watch them all a once...


I also tried playing Enter the Matrix - since there is 1 hour of extra video about what Niobi does btw reloaded and revolutions...but you have to complete the missions...and I gave up after a while...lol


what I hear is that there is going to be an online PC game that will continue where revolutions left off...thats why they left it a little open...but I can't really get into video games...so I'll have to make DH download it for me...

Chris played the PS2 game and he loved it. He said there was a lot of extra footage so you might want to try to play it if you can.

Erica, I guess we're the only ones who are really into this movie.

I read a little bit about what happened in ETM...I heard that Niobi and Persiphone kiss (I guess if you play with Ghost - he kisses Persiphone as well) and I think the Oracle talks to them as well...

I saw it last night and i thought it was great. I have like a million questions, however I want to read all your posts before I do so.
