We're starting to look at djs and was wondering how necessary it is to have an mc?

To me, it is. We're having a relatively large wedding (175-200 people) and I just want to make sure the night flows really smoothly and that people are dancing. It's also better than relying on one person to do all the music AND announcements at the same time. It's definitely a personal preference though.

I wanted the MC when I was shopping around. We had a large party and it really does help. The MC does all the announcements, he gets everyone's attention when needed, the DJ keeps the party going but the MC gets the guests all pumped up in between mixes.
