personally your body your choice unless the baby can survive outside of the womb on its own. I think people put their morals on this issue to much, personally I never would of aborted a child unless i was raped or 12 but i feel you have the right to make that choice and it is not the government's job to tell me or any woman otherwise.

i agree - i dont understand how the govt can tell you what to do with your body - as a female no matter what my views are on the subject i think i feel much better knowing that i have the 'choice: to do what i want with my body - it scares me that those rights can be taken away....just because you dont agree with it doesnt mean the right should be taken away for everyone - that really bothers me as a woman

I'm crashing! had to post though. Muliigan you are so right and I agree with you on everything except the part where you say it won't effect you cause it will. Any household combined income (this means your future husband and you) making 100,000 and up will be effected. Obama said anyone making over 100,000 a year is rich!! are you kidding me?! Not in NY your not. Obama and his wife make well over 1 million a year. It's hard to believe he understandsthe struggle of everyday people.

i agree - combined we make well over 100K and we are by no means 'rich' - that is what scares me about obama we are moving out of NY because even making over 100K we still cant afford the type of home we wand and have kids....especially with energy costs so high - which raises the price of everything - even grocery shopping burns a hole in my wallet these days!

Re: McCain chose his VP

Just to clarify and correct me if I'm worng, but didn't Obama say people making over $250k were rich, not $100k?

BTW, this is one point where I do disagree with him. Where you live determines what that $250k is really worth, and in NY, it ain't worth nearly as much as say Topeka, KS.

But a recent McCain gaffe was that he said that you weren't rich until you had $5 million....come on, I'd say your rich way before that, even in NY...

We all know he chose this woman to pull in the Hillary supporters and sometimes I feel like some women are naive enough for this to work. Same way I knew of some women who were voting for Hillary just because she was a woman. You ask them to talk about any of her policies and they had no clue as to anything other than she had a vagina. I really hope people dont fall for this.

If women vote for her bc they were supporting Hillary they are too stupid to vote LOL she is so conservative they would have to COMPLETELY change their views to go from Hillary to Palin.

I was upset by the obvious motive behind picking her but now that I have been reading up on her I do agree with most of her views.

May I suggest looking at the other parties. Obviously, they aren't going to win but the popularity of the other parties shows politicians what people are interested in and may help move some causes foward or simply send the message that we are tired of what the two parties are offering us. . . just a suggestion and something I considered doing myself.

My vote never counts in this state anyway

ITA and i don't understand how the gov't in this country thinks they have the right to tell everyone where life even begins and what a woman is allowed to do with her body...in France there is no such control or threat to women. But what really scares me is that the Bush administration is now pushing the agenda that birth control is a form of abortion!!!! They call themselves pro-life, when they hunt animals and support the death penalty...it's not about life, it's about controlling those who they see as 'beneath' them!! It makes me so angry...I'm voting for my cat

I don't either, when sober anyway, but wow I would never intentionally boycott voting. No matter how dumb the candiates are on both sides.

They are our candiates!

Thank you. I LOVE how people respect gun totin', pro-death penalty, 'PRO LIFERS' The biggest hypocrites. Ugh It makes me sick. What does a womans body have to do with POLITICS. I just wish religion would be kept out of it like its supposed to. What a woman decides to do with her body should have nothing to do with who runs this country. How does that make sense? Yet people continue to choose candidates based on their religious views. Leave religion out of it and choose a candidate based on what they will do for our country.

Funny thing is, IM personally anti-abortion. I dont believe in it . BUT I dont think anyone has the right to tell a woman what she can and cant do with her body. Im PRO-choice. Its a womans decision.

Wow 100K if you make that even in NY your still rich in my book (no offense girls)!!! But seriously i think if you make 100k and have no kids you should be taxed a high percentage then someone making 25k with four kids. Is it punishment for doing well - maybe - but you can afford to feed/house yourself easily with 100k whereas the mom of four kids making 25k a year can not. That is what makes this country great - you can be rich and chip in a bit more and you should be lower middle class and get a bit more support to perhaps make yourself better.

I agree the rich should chip in more, but 100K definitely shouldn't be the cut off in ny. DH and I meet the mark, live very modestly and have to watch every penny if we ever want a house in ny in our lifetimes. I don't think we should sacrifice being homeowners by paying extremely high taxes for someone to have 4 kids. We cant even afford to have any kids ourselves at this point with our salary, let alone 4.

These are my thoughts (copied and pasted from the NW board )

He picked a woman to draw in Hillary supporters. Smart move. I'm no McCain fan at all, she may very well be qualified, I don't know ( I'm starting my research on her now). But this was a very well crafted, strategic, purely political move.

Granted, they're all political moves, but this is like a flashing neon light political move.

well said

it's just a wedge issue that's thrown out there like gay marriage, gays in the military, etc...I think the real issue is taxes. i think this guides their vote and the wedge issues are just good spinning on their PR campaign. they're soooo much $$ behind all these things.

i 100% agree.....my FH and i work hard, do the right thing and we want to wait until we are financially stable to start a family - why should we have to help pay for people who couldnt manage their money? and decided to have kids they couldnt afford? i see it ALL the time - especially now with the mortgage crisis - people who bought houses they should have known they couldnt afford and then start popping out kids - i feel like some people live in the clouds i know thats not the scenario for everyone struggling but that really irks me....im just hoping if obama is elected we dont get screwed, i mean we arent millionaires or anything but combined salaries we are well over the 100k mark and that scares me AND id like to say that even though my FH brings in about 6 figures at his regular job and i have a good job he STILL works a second job on the weekends - so i dont feel that bad for people because they can get 2 jobs as well b/c my FH who doesnt even 'need' to do it still does it so that we can save, have no debt, and get a house - he does it because we want to get out of an apartment and we dont want to live paycheck to paycheck - we want to have a nice savings as well.....but it makes me nervous thinking here we are my FH and I working hard, him working 2 jobs and now we might get taxed even WORSE than we already are - the amount of money that gets taken out of my FHs check is sickening - its someones salary - its like MY salary!!! i cant imagine us having to owe more money to the govt its like why are we bothering to work so hard? its like being punished for doing well my FH tells me not to worry because he is really after big wigs, and taxing capital gains, and it would only affect people with serious money in stocks, more like ceos, people who own companies stuff like that.....but it still freaks me out!
