Original post by futuremrsfab

And its the governor of Alaska- Sarah Palin- she's been in office for 2 years.

Any thoughts?

This for any Obama supporters- and again-I dont like either candidate but by election day I will pick the lesser of two evils.

Obama has a lot of ideas for change 1-healthcare for all americans (cost- in the trillions) and 2- 60 million to fix the nation's roads

just wondering how you feel about paying for all of that- economists are saying it would require a hefty tax increase.

just wondering

interestingly enough - Palin is the ONLY candidate on the ENTIRE TICKET with executive experience. it's one things to make laws for the country and it's a completely different thing to run a government

brilliant move making her VP - she's an amazing woman and I am proud to vote for the ticket. this is a change i am willing to support.

Let me start off by saying I totally respect your opinion and find this healthy debate to be a much needed distraction on as very slow Friday at work.

That being said, your statement reminds me of how, back in 2000, everybody was trumping Bush's MBA as making him the most qualified candidate. Again, just my opinion, but the last 8 years have proven him to be anything but....

ok but what does that have to do with Palin? or how is that any different than what people are saying about Obama?

Because you are mentioning her 'executive experience' , implying that that somehow makes her more qualified for the job than the rest of the field. Republicans made the same argument in 2000 about Bush's MBA, impliyng that he would be the best choice for president because he would be the 'CEO' president. No offense, but how has that worked out?

I agree. I think it's a stupid move. She has hardly any experience in politics as far as I have seen. He should have picked someone with more experience, someone who could fill any holes he had in his own experience (like Obama did) and concentrate on picking someone who is going to help him lead, not just get votes.

Now please don't take this in a bad way, I'm not meaning it to sound mean, but I really just don't get what your saying here... She may not have that much experience, but shes just the VP, not the president, I would MUCH rather have an inexperienced VP then President, especially when we have an economy that needs to be changed for the better.... I agree with you that they should have someone who can fill the wholes, but in all honesty Obama just has too many wholes to fill.

Personally I think its should be McCain and Biden, best of both sides, because both sides havent exactly proven themselves in the past lol

Problem is, he's 72. It is very possible that he could become sick or die while in office. That makes the VP choice for him even more crucial.

I guess, but to me anyone can die unexpectedly, so thats not really a reason for me to not vote for him.

i never said i thought she had more experience than anyone else i said that she has more EXECUTIVE experience than anyone else. and, that is a fact, not an opinion. it isn't me saying i think she is the better pick for VP, it is me stating a fact that she has more executive experience, which to me is important. in any event, i guess i just didn't see the point in comparing her to Bush. You could say the same thing for Obama - saying he has all these great ideas and he has a law degree and he's such an incredible speaker and how he will be the 'people's' president - the same thing could happen if he was elected. he could be a total wash also. there is no way to know - hind sight is 20/20. i was just simply saying i like her, i like the fact that she has executive experience and i will vote for her. and i totally respect that you won't vote for her. that's why i love this country - we can do what we want :)

And then what? leave it for our children to pick up after? ... We did that once, where we left iraq before we should have, and now we're back to pick up the pieces. Although I would love for everyone to be home, I miss my SIL and BIL greatly..

Our purpose of the first Gulf War was to liberate Kuwait. George Bush 1 was smart enough to know that to enter into Iraq would have been the catastrophy that we see now.

The fact is, we should never have gone to Iraq in the first place, but what's done is done. Do we really need to continue keep our men and women in harm's way? How is staying in Iraq in our best interest right now? Beside the fact, they want us out.

BTW, best wishes and prayers to your SIL and BIL. I wish them a safe return home soon!

my comment is not going to make any sort of difference or anything, but I just wanted to add that I find it annoying that both candidates are very republican or democrat. They are both the epitomy (sp?) of their political party. But the problem with that is what about people like me (Im assuming a LOT of people feel like this) who agree with some issues from each party and strongly disagree with others? Howcome there is never a candidate that falls in the middle? For example: I am hugely for gay marriage. i dont see any harm in it at all. But I think there needs to be more restrictions on abortion. not trying to start a debate on these two topics, just using them as an example.

But anyway, it would be great if someone could actually take the best from both parties and be president- but very unlikly!!!

Because primary voters determine candidates and primary voters tend to be either more conservative or more liberal than the general population.

I agree with you, I still don't understand the reasoning with going there in the first place, and I don't think it should have happened. However, I really don't know what will happened when they decide to send our troops home, do we know if it will make things better? Its a hard toss up, and I fear the outcomes from both scenerios.

And thank you so much! DH and I are praying they get to see our son when he is born, but they keep getting jerked around with their leave times.

These are my thoughts (copied and pasted from the NW board )

He picked a woman to draw in Hillary supporters. Smart move. I'm no McCain fan at all, she may very well be qualified, I don't know ( I'm starting my research on her now). But this was a very well crafted, strategic, purely political move.

Granted, they're all political moves, but this is like a flashing neon light political move.

Totally agree....my co-worker told me this woman has an ethics investigation going on bc she fired her BIL as a state trooper when her sister divorced him..overrode the union and such....

I'm crashing! had to post though. Muliigan you are so right and I agree with you on everything except the part where you say it won't effect you cause it will. Any household combined income (this means your future husband and you) making 100,000 and up will be effected. Obama said anyone making over 100,000 a year is rich!! are you kidding me?! Not in NY your not. Obama and his wife make well over 1 million a year. It's hard to believe he understandsthe struggle of everyday people.
