Meet The Parents!

FH and I are hosting a dinner tomorrow night so our parents can finally meet each other! I'm excited, nervous, etc. Everyone better be on their best behavior

ugh..hope I can sleep tonight!!

OOOO I know those feelings all too well. This is what my father told me and it relieved much of my anxiety of 'Meeting the parents'. He said 'if both of your parents love your fiance and your future in laws love you, then obviously there is nothing to worry about. Both of you have similiar personalities, and come from similiar homes. I am sure as much as we love him, we will like them'. Turned out to be GREAT! Everyone had a good time, and I was so relieved!

Remember that if you two love one another, that's all that matters.

awwwww thanks ladies!!!!!! :) We are both really excited!! So much to do today but will def. post later and let you know how it went!!

We decided to cater it bc FH and I had one heck of a crazy week both work wise and other so it has def. helped not to stress about the food part! Just have to run to the store and get a few last minute items and then we wait til 4pm......

Good luck, but remember that it's just the first night. I know people talk about first impressions, but FMIL and I used to hate each other and now she is my best friend. Tonight is not your only chance for everyone to get along, so try and have fun!

Have fun!!! I love when my dad said i don't think i ever met his mother before. I said dad we live around the corner from each other and its been 7 years

It will be fine!! I was so panicked when I did this too. I always worry like what if something is brought up about politics and they dont agree? or anything else for that matter! But it went smoothly and so will yours!!!

Yes!!!!! Donna, that is so funny because FH already told both his dad and step dad that politics are OFF limits!!! LOL. In return, I've given my dad the 'no bad jokes' conversation :) Our moms should get along fine...they are actually so similar...it's scary!

ugh...i'm still nervous but thanks again ladies!
FH just drank a red bull! Let the fun begin!

Good luck! I know what you mean, its so nerve wrecking when parents meet for the first time! FH's parents have met my entire family multiple times and I'm still nervous someone in my family is going to say/do something stupid when they get together!

I was completely nervous about them meeting each other. My mom still has not FH's dad and that makes me want to sh*t a brick. Hope everything works out!

I just went through the first meeting. Picture this: My mom and dad are divorced, and my dad was coming with his girlfriend. My FH's parents are almost 30 years older than my parents. My father is loud and is known for his proficient use of foul language. FH's parents have at least 10 pictures of Jesus....in their bedroom alone.

I was SO NERVOUS! Not only are my parents meeting my ILs for the first time, but my parents have to spend the entire day with each other!

It ended up being pretty good, all things considered. Everyone was on good behavior and tried to make conversation with each other. I didn't eat a thing though because I was so stressed about it. I ate my entire dinner at home when it was just me and FH.

I completely understand your nerves!
