Meeting your minimum # of guests

Meeting your minimum # of guests

So last night we figured out we maybe between 2-4 people short to make our minimum. What would you do? We are thinking of asking some friends but saying no gift is required (just because we won't really know until a few weeks before the wedding). I'm thinking they wouldn't honor that, I'm sure they may bring something small or a smaller money gift....which is fine. These are friends that would be on a B list, but we don't really have a B list....

Or, would you just keep it short and ask the hall to box up the food and take it home

First I would check with the hall and see if they would be willing to lower your minimum. (I made my minimum 10 people short of what I expect so I wouldn't have to have that predicament because I was so scared!) but I think if you can't get your minimum adjusted I would just invite the few other people that it would be nice to have there.

Did you count your vendors on this? I know at my hall they will use them toward the min. Or I would do the B-list, they will come.

FH and I keep forgetting to count our names and our parents name to the number of people....did you guys remember to count yourselves??

I am under my mim by 4 but when I add in vendors its only by 1. I would rather just be under by 1 than invite one more person.

I know some of the girls ask the girls they have met from here if they can't meet their minimum. You can always take the extra food home though.

This brings me to the question: Does the bride and groom really count too? I can't imagine paying them all that money and them not comping our meals.

I never thought of this. I figured I was included in the minimum.

My contract reads 'bride and groom free after min has been met'. So before min is met, we would be paying for ourselves.

Did you count your vendors into your min?

*Crashing* The only place that ever told us we'd be comped was Watermill -- everywhere else we paid for ourselves

This part is going to give me diarrhea (sorry but its true) This happened with my son's christening. The most awful things were happening to my guests after i gave my head count. I did contact a few people and invited them on a no gift included level. They showed with a gift and were not offended because truly i was not trying to be offensive. Hoping my head count works out cuase i cant deal with this again...

I envy this problem! I was just having a panic attack while reading over our invite list.
I think it would be fine to extend an invite to friends that you know wouldn't be offended. How can you say no to a great celebration, free booze & food?

You have to count yourselves unless your contract states it. Also vendors count towards your minimum. You should shoot your BM an email to ask...

Thanks ...all good points! I did include me and FH in the count, but, not the vendors. This is a good point. I'm going to email them tomorrow to see if they def count. Also i was just thinking.... I wouldn't turn down free food and booze if I was invited last minute!

If we come up a few short, we are going to extend an offer to some guests who are invited without a guest to bring a guest.

Wow, great point...I gotta double check with Watermill if we could towards minimum or not. My FH and I are totally freaked about this, wanting to stay exactly at our minimum if at all possible...and alternating between thinking we'll go way over or under! But I would definitely invite some friends that would have been on your 'B' list.

I am a Watermill bride also

So take a look at the contract - this might be on yours also.
