Melville Hotel block question

Melville Hotel block question

Ok - so I am meeting with the Huntington Hilton tomorrow to see about blocking rooms. Unfortunately, I've read some negative reviews on here about them and now am getting nervous.

Has anyone booked rooms there? What about the new Hiton Garden Inn Melville (Plainview). We don't want to go too far off of 110 because the Hilton is actually the midway point between the church and RH.

Do you know if the Garden Inn has a bar? One of the reasons we didn't book the Mariott was that they close the bar at 1 am and our reception doesn't end till midnight. Our friends and family are not the type that will just go back to their rooms and go to sleep.

TIA

We had the same issues, and opted to book the Marriott anyway. They were very welcoming and helpful, and the Hilton always seemed too busy to deal with us. I also didn't like their suites as much. We decided if anything, we would end up going into overtime at the reception if everyone was still in a partying mood, so getting back to the hotel at 1 or 1:30, that people could drink from their rooms or go to bed!

We narrowed it down to the Marriott or the Four Points Sheraton, and we opted for the Marriott because of the indoor pool. The Sheraton is beautiful, and you can pay a small fee to extend the bar hours there.

BTW, i'm pretty sure the Garden Inn doesn't have a bar or catering facilities (we needed to do a morning after breakfast). The Marriott and Four Points Sheraton can accommodate that.

Our best man works at the sheraton four points in plainview and the bar always stays open late for weddings. It's right by 110 and I've stayed that the Marriot homewood suites a few times and always love it. Their suites are awesome. Both hotels are across the steet from each other

I have rooms blocked at the Hilton Garden Inn and they do have a bar. It stays open until 1 or 2 am (can't remember), or later if the bartender wants to keep it open. I am not sure about the catering facilities, as it's not something that I was looking for but I would call to ask. It's a great hotel, only open about 3 months and everything is so nice. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you very much! I totally forgot about the Sheraton! The Garden Inn said they can't accommodate us for a brunch the next day (which is something we need), so I'm going to check out the Sheraton as well.

Thanks again.

We looked at the marriott, courtyard and hilton and the Melville Marriott gave us the best price....beat the others by about 50 a room.

Re: Melville Hotel block question

We ended up booking the Hilton. While the Marriott was definitely nicer looking, the fact that they shut the bar down at 1 am and wouldn't keep it open was a problem.

The Garden Inn wasn't able to accommodate us for brunch the next day, so they were out.

Overall, the Hilton was a better deal for us. When I mentioned that the Marriott gave us rooms for $20 a night cheaper, they immediately said they would beat that price. The bar closes at 2 but they said that as long as people are there and buying drinks it will stay open till 4. Also, they gave us more options for brunch the next morning. We haven't figured out what we're doing with that part yet, but they have a continental breakfast package for $10.95 per person.

Let's hope that all the negative comments about it were wrong!
