Memorial

Memorial

FH wants us to remember his family that has passed during our photo montage. In the beginning, he wants to say something like...Let's remember those who cannot be here today..something to that effect.

He'd like to remember his 2 uncles, grandmother and 2 close friends. I've had 2 uncles pass away, but I didn't want to do something so public for them..possibly just add in their pictures with me growing up.

I felt that it draws too much sad attention to the matter and how do you go showing people who've passed to having us smiling as kids? I told him to as FMIL since her brother passed 2 years ago and she's still very upset. I know it can be upsetting to some, but she actually thought it was a great idea.

What do you guys think? Do you think it's appropriate to go from that to our childhood pics?Do you think its too sad to begin in that way?

Me personally, I will not include my family in it like this. I'm just going to put pictures of them with me growing up. My family and people who knew them will just see them and remember them.

I agree with you, but maybe there could be a way to have a moment of silence after the photo montage to honor the loved ones who passed away. Your FH could include his loved ones names if he wishes.

That's what my FH and I are going to do for his mom and grandma. They passed away this past april, and november. We don't want to bring down the mood of our wedding, but they do have to be honored.

good luck and congrats : )

Thanks. I agree, I definitely would like to honor them..I'm just not sure if it's the right way to kick off the montage. I'm just not sure if it's a good transition to go from that to happy childhood pics.

Hmmm I actually like your FH's idea. I know, for me, it is really really difficult to accept that none of my Grandparents are living to see me get married, and I really want to honor them in anyway possible. I think it's a nice tribute, and of course, it is sad, but I don't know if it necessarily brings own the mood. I personally think it's just a sweet way to bring them there, and have them be there in a way.

For me, although I know my wedding is going to be a beautiful day, I also know that it would be so, so special if my Grandparents could be there.
