Memorial Candle Questions

1.Did you name everyone who has passed or only those that you anf FI both knew???


I listed the family members on both sides that we both knew. I would think it would be a long list if we listed everyone. My FMIL is a bit upset that soem are left out!



2. Also, did anyone put a pet on theirs????


I know it's a silly question, but they are family too!

I do not think the Catholic Church recognizes pets as having souls that go to heaven though.

What do you think??

Only my mom's name is on the memorial candle.
I am not doing programs, but my officiant will light the candle and mention that it is in memory of the bride's mother, and for all the others that are not present with us now.

I think that a memorial candle is a nice thing, but it becomes overwhelming when so many deceased are mentioned. If there are so many, it should be a general memorial. JMHO.
A wedding is a time of celebration, not of mourning.
