Never really heard of it but saw it on the reception hall list they have here under vedors.
Anyone scout it ? Been to a wedding there? Having their wedding?
I'm going there Sunday morning at 11:30 to check it out. I think it's one of the very few Nassau County Halls I haven't been to, LOL.

Re: Metropolitan in Glen Cove, NY
I went to look at it. On the plus side, it's quite reasonable and has a nice, modern flair to it. On the minus side, it's very small and to me it did not seem like a place for a wedding but rather a Sweet 16 or Bat Mitzvah. It also seemed a bit rundown and the lady we met with badmouthed other venues to us (and venues that in my opinion were a lot nicer than Metropolitian)

I checked it out and agree that the prices are very reasonable. I am pretty sure they quoted me for 75 on a saturday night. However, I also agree that it didn't feel like a place I would have my wedding. I loved that there was a balcony overlooking the dance floor, but it seemed more like a bar you'd take your friends to, JMO. If you want to see pics, just FM me and I'll post them.

Re: Metropolitan in Glen Cove, NY
i've been to a wedding there, as well as a Sweet 16. We checked it out for our wedding since I had decent experiences there both times and I knew we could save some money if we booked there.
The food was pretty good. i LOVED my salmon, but my FH thought his steak was just ok.
the cocktail hour food was really good, and i really like that there is the upstairs bar overlooking the dance floor.
i do have to saw that in the daylight when we checked the place out it looked pretty run down, but we NEVER noticed it at night. the place is lit really well.
Thanks!! I look forward to seeing it for myself on Sunday. Thanks for everyone's input so far.

I looked at it because of how reasonable the prices were... and if we were getting married at night in the winter, we mayhave considered it...but we are getting married in a warm month and it has so little outdoor space so it wasn't going to work for us. I heard the food was good and the menus we saw looked great.

that was the first place we looked at and i loved it! in the end though, i wanted an outdoor ceremony, but it was really elegant, i loved the reception room and the upstairs cocktail hour. they were doing a lot of construction on the outside when we went (in january) so i can't tell you what it looks like now.

We just booked.. and believe me we looked every where and then some! I think it depends on what you are looking for. I personally was looking for something different. I didn't want the same ballroom that I saw every where else. JMO. I liked the sophisticated/elegant feel. For my initial meeting I left thinking it was a bit worn looking but going back in the evening it was much better. We personally wanted a Saturday night and I was flexible on times of the year. With the number of invites no one that I was interested in would even consider our 140 wedding. It's all opinion. Go with your gut and good luck! We are very happy with them and look forward to having a sleek modern feel to our wedding!

I'm still debating on the month and might go for a 10-31-10 wedding if.. 1) the date is open 2) we love the place 3) my uncle & his FW don't pick the same date cause I know they wanted a halloween wedding.
That way the limited outdoor area isn't a big decision factor, but I'll have to think about it after seeing the place myself in person tomorrow.

I know how you feel. I'm really loving the idea of an outdoor ceremony. But if I were to find THE RH for me and it wasn't an option... I'd do the church wedding after all.
