Mexico Help!!

Mexico Help!!

So we have had such a hard time figuring out what we want for our honeymoon. We thought we narrowed it down to Secrets Maroma Beach in the Riviera Maya in Mexico, but whenever I mention it to anyone- they say 'Don't go to Mexico, it's not safe!' Is it really that bad there? It made me nervous because we want to do excursions and things, but so many people that have gone to Mexico have bad things to say. Ladies???? Any other suggestions?? (Looking for all inclusive)

Mexico Help!!

We went to Cancun for our honeymoon; we stayed at Paradisus. And it was fun. We had a great time. We used their public transportation to get around and it was very safe. One night we went to the club and was out around 2am. We never felt unsafe. We stayed in the hotel zone which for the most part is usually safe. We really have nothing bad to say about our trip. We would definitely go back.

Mexico Help!!

Ugh I'm so sick of ppl saying Mexico is bad! Mexico is a beautiful place to go! I have been to Mexico on 3 separate occasions (Cancun, Alcapulco and Cabo) and I had a great time in each place and I felt very safe. Whenever you travel, Mexico or not, you have to be smart! Don't go wandering off and exploring on your own, especially in non common/tourist areas. If you do any excursions make sure to go with a tour guide.

THIS EXACTLY!!!! I am going to Riviera Maya on my honeymoon too, and people are so rude about it! I have had many lovely vacations there and so have many of my friends & family. And as you said, any travel can be dangerous if you are not safe!

Mexico Help!!

I just got home from Secrets Maroma Beach!! We went June 16-24! It was fantastic, completely safe and so relaxing. I HIGHLY recommend it. Just make sure you have arranged airport transfers and if you do any excursions, go with a guide (you can book them right through the hotel!). Enjoy!!! :)

I went to Mexico on vacay last year and we felt totally safe the whole time we were there. I would recommend having the resort arrange your transport to and from the airport since they will use a reputable company. We were also selective about what offsite excursions we planned not only becuase of the travel restrictions but also because we were there for such a short time. Trust your gut and enjoy the trip!!

CRASHING.. Mexico is definitely getting worse (and this is coming from someone who is going to Colombia with FH) but FHs brother in law is from Mexico and right now tourist spots are getting shadier but you just need to stay IN the resort.. try not to go on excursions that go far away.. but you will enjoy and have a great time! it's like the Dominican Republic you need to just stick to the resort (unless you or someone you are with knows the area) ENJOY!!
