Michele31 ~ Burton's thought
I see that you seem to be concerned about Burton's - I am using them as well. I have this thought, although not entirely comforting, and it shouldn't make a difference either way - but the fact that we are November brides, I would imagine that they would not be as crazy busy - what do you think about this thought? I have not had any doubts about them, even with some negative posts, but with it getting closer, I am a little bit anxious. I like to try to put anything negative and swing it into a positive somehow!

Re: Michele31 ~ Burton's thought
I always get concerned when I read something negative about any of my vendors but then I try to remind myself that there are 2 sides to every story and that every bride has different expectations. I called them once before after reading a negative post and went in to met with John. I felt a lot better when I left. I discussed the quality of flowers I expect, the size of the bouquets I want, etc..He will have a sample centerpiece and bouquet made for me prior to the wedding. Also, my event manager at the Hamlet told me that she has never seen a bad centerpiece or bouquet from Burtons, and the Hamlet does not official recommend Burtons.
I think that every florist will get a negative review, similar to limo companies. I had no idea whether or not the other brides explained what they wanted very effectively. So look for photos, and ask for samples. Do you feel better?

I feel fine - there are much more important things to worry about - and worrying solves nothing! Since we are near in dates, may I ask what type of flowers you are requesting? I am clueless!

Re: Michele31 ~ Burton's thought
Hi lulleyles- My flowers are pretty much all roses. Here is what I am doing:All bouquets are hand-tied in the satin ribbon from their gowns (extra hem material). My BMs are wearing deep plum dresses. I have 8 girls.
My bouquet is 3 shades of purple roses (lavendar, a medium shade not picked out yet and blue bird),white stephanotis (w.pearl in middle), lavendar freesia and snowberries. My 2 MOHs will have the same bouquet minus stephanotis. Then the other BM bouquets will be:
2 of them will be lavendar roses, freesia, snowberries; 2 will be medium shade of purple roses, freesia, snowberries;2 will be blue bird roses, freesia and snowberries. Does that make sense?
My centerpieces are going to be the purple roses, hydrangeas, purple tulips (I never thought you could get those in Nov. but you can), wax flower (a pretty pink, very small flower), freesia. There will be 3 votive candles coming up from the centerpiece.
My pew bouquets for the church are just the purple roses and wax flowers.
The Moms will all have the roses that are cream but the tips are a color- do you know what I mean? My stepmom will have a Nicole rose (cream roses with red tips). My Mom will have leanorids (sp?) and not sure about FMIL since she doesn't have a gown yet. The corsages will also have the baby orchids in them.
The guys will have a purple rose bot. Scotts will have stephantois and the other guys will have the snowberries. The dads have red rose bots.
--------
Dress fittings: my gown had a custom hem made when I ordered it and when I put the gown on it fit like a glove. But if I did need alterations I would go early Sept, late Sept, mid-Oct.
I am currently working on my invitations and they should arrive in about 10 days. I am sending them out Aug. 31st. with an RSVP date of 10/1. I starting getting my bridal party gifts and am working on starting my programs.
I have to do RD invites in a week or so because my rehersal is on a Friday at 4:30 so people will need to leave work early. I want to give them plenty of notice. I also just finished working on our song info for the band.
How about you?

Wow Michele - you really do have it together. I have no idea what flowers I am going to pick - I don't even know what some of yours are!My invitations are here, I just have to put the bows on - my biggest think that I have to get done now is the list. Mine are going out around September 16th, with an rsvp date of 10/29.
My head is spinning quite honestly, so I am ot sure what else i have to do. But peoplel ike you, and this board, have made it a whole lot easier - thank you!

I am also November (day after michele) and using burtons. I am also a little concerned, but have decided to bring specific pics with me to ensure that I get what I want.

Re: Michele31 ~ Burton's thought
I went through a major Burton's dilemma a while back for anybody who remembers....I ended up choosing another florist, but I am sure Burton's is going to be fine. Although, I do hope that since a few negative comments have arisen, that they are planning on correcting some of their policies. What I got nervous about was that they wouldnt' put quantity. So - in addition to bringing in pictures, I think you guys should list the quantity that you want on everything. It's a little annoying, cause you guys arent FLORISTS - but if you are worried, that's what I would do.

Re: Michele31 ~ Burton's thought
I find it hard to KNOW how many of each flower I want in my bouquets. So I have asked for samples of my bouquet and the centerpiece. Honestly I think you need to do the centerpiece sample with all florists. I have read florist complaints from lots of different shops so I am sure this is not specific to Burtons. I just wish that brides would call a vendor after the wedding if they are unhappy about something. That way the vendor can learn and try to help future brides. I am cannot find a photo of the bouquet(s) I want since I created them in my head but I will see the different shades of purple roses in Sept. to pick the 3 I want (really just need a medium shade since I love lavendar and blue bird). But I have to trust that for every 1 negative comment 9 girls are more than happy.Welcome New Vendors
