Middle of the week wedding?

Middle of the week wedding?

I have always wanted to get married on the 4th of July but, for 2006 it falls on a tuesday If I had my wedding in the middle of the week on a holiday week no less, would less people come to the wedding? Please give me honest opinions, would you go to a wedding in the middle of the week (night wedding) if you were invited to one or would you be annoyed that the person was throwing a wedding on a Tuesday. TIA

I think that everyone who is important (close friends and family) will definitly attend. Just make sure to give people notice :) If a July 4th wedding is what you want, I say just do it!

Maybe having it on the 4th of July is a good idea if you're having out-of-town guests who would vacation. But since it's a tuesday rather than a thursday or friday, maybe people will need to go back to work on July 5th. So I'm not sure if I would chose that tuesday.

Good luck!

you can never guarantee that everyone you invite will show up. No matter when your wedding is. i honestly think that it might be a conflict because its the middle of the week and people have to work the next day. but i do agree that the people who matter will make sure they are there. good luck no matter what you decide

i would do it the weekend before, everyone will be in a festive summer mood, and you can kick off the 4th of July. If I was invited to a Tuesday wedding my jaw would drop. JMO.

I really dont think its that big of a deal. Just think if you had your wedding on a friday or sunday, some people might still need to take a day off of work. You still couldnt guarantee that someone wouldnt be inconvenienced if you held it on a saturday. Everyone's schedule is diff, so no matter what day of the week you choose. If you always wanted to get married on July 4th then I would go for it!!!

It is your day, you do what you always dreamed off. Anyone who is important to you will be there. If number of people is an issue consider having it during the day. I think more people will attend, night weddings tend to run late and people will have to work the next day. You may see more no's than usual or you will see people leaving early.

I have always seen weddings during the week to be imposing an inconvenience on your guests. Especially on a holiday like 4th of July. People look forward to BBqing and all that other stuff. GIve them something else to look forward to and have it the weekend after.

Depends on how close they are to you. For my sister or best friend, I'd go with no complaints and they live in VA. For a coworker that I know but am not 'close with' I'd attend if it was in NYC or LI but I'd likely leave early if I had to work on Wednesday.

I can't imagine anyone being 'annoyed' at the date you picked? Either they can attend or they can't. I do not even recall the day of the week for weddings I've attended in the past. In fact, I was reminded that I attended a Sunday night wedding at Swan Club (not a holiday Monday) and I never even recalled the day of the week.

It won't matter. The people who love you will come even if it's on a random Wednesday in the middle of blizzard season.

my best friend booked east wind for 7/4/06 - and everyone's so excited! She's looking into where the fireworks locations are, and we're hoping that we'll be able to see some from the reception.

Thanks for all the honest opinions girls . Should I maybe call some people on the guest list and see what they think? I know our close family and friends will come no matter what but, it is everyone else I am worried about!!!

Those that love you will be there, but it may be putting people out. People may have to take off two days (Monday and Wed) in order to attend your wedding if they live OOT. What about having the wedding on July 3 and celebrating with a wedding BBQ on the Tuesday? That way people are really only taking off one day if they want to attend.

ETA: If you do decide to do the wedding on a Tuesday, make sure you send out Save the dates early.

I wouldn't do it...especially if you have to guarentee a certain amount of people!
Yes the people who love you will come BUT OOTers might not..

I think i would play it safe and have it the weekend before or after...There are always fireworks on thos weekends

I always wanted July 4th also, it was my grandparents anniversary... but since it falls on a Tuesday that year, I decided to go for July 3 ( a Monday) and this way family and friends have plenty of time to come into town over that weekend, we have a lot of things planned for it.. and Then July 4th people can relax and take their time getting back home. I just got my STD back, and I'm sending them out in a week or two for 7/3/06. I say go for the Tuesday wedding.. you will get such a deal! And all the people who you want to be there, will be!

I agree . . . you definitely will lessen the number of people that attend if you have it during the week AND on a holiday . . .

Re: Middle of the week wedding?

We are having our wedding the monday before the fourth of July and everyone is so excited about it. We let all the important people know in advance that we booked a monday evening event. We are also sending the save the date cards a year in advance, to give everyone full notice that it is on Monday and on a holiday weekend!
