Might have to cancel my bridal shower..

Which is scheduled for next weekend.. yoga theme.. with 25 people invited...

but here's the problem....

i have a bad tooth.. like a really REALLY bad tooth.. long story short, root canal, temp cap, no perm camp, tooth got broke.. any time anything goes near it a deathening shooting pain goes through the side of my tooth up the side of my face and lodges itself in my head where it sits for hours until i am in the bed with my head of under the pillow crying for my mommy......


so i took off last week and went to the dentist who informed me that the tooth must go..

okay no big deal, i've had teeth pulled before..

but.. with the pregnancy i can't take any medicine.. no general anesthsia only local.. WHAT? your gonna pull my tooth out of my mouth and u're just gonna give me a professional grade version of orajel?

sigh.. what can i do? i can't continue with this kind of pain, but knowing I can't be put to sleep, and can't take any pain med over a tylenol after, i'mma need time to recooperate afterwards.. I can't take any days off this week because of ELA testing... and next weekend just so happens to be a three day weekend.. plenty of time for me to cry silently in pain and be in better condition by Tuesday after MLK day to return to work.

my mom and i have been tossing this around all weekend.. we see no other option other than to cancel the bridal shower..

i'll know tomorrow for sure.. i have to call the ob-gyn and get a doctor's note giving the dentist permission to pull my tooth, and then call the dentist and make an appointment..

i am more concerned about the pain than i am about the bridal shower.. but this really *****.. next weekend is gonna be the worst.. i need hugs..

I hope this helps. I had the same situation. I was only allowed a local. That's it. I was able to take tylenol afterward. It was not bad at all. Actually...I had so much pain from the tooth that I was going to rip it out myself. Trust me. It hurts but the tooth ache is worse.

I'm so sorry hun. I had a bad experience after my first wisdom tooth was removed, so I understand the pain you are in/will be in.

You can always reschedule your shower. Your health and sanity comes first.

honestly i'm not so upset about teh shower as i am about having the tooth pulled.. i HATE PAIN.. and i just can't imagine being awake while someone pulls my tooth.. i get laughing gas for cavities!!

the bridal shower is eh.. i didn't particularly want one anyway.. and with the upcoming wedding gifts and then house warming this spring, and then baby shower this summer.. i feel like we're asking for so much from family/friends..

but to PULL MY TOOTH!!!

but at the same time,, that pain i felt the other night was un liek any other i've ever known.. i mean i literally called my mom around 11pm crying and begging for her to do something.. lol. and i'm 30 yrs old!! *but being the super mom she is.. she told me exactly what to do to calm the nerve down and make it bearable.. gotta love mom!!*

That really stinks! but you should def. take care of yourself first!!! just think now it is getting worse, but once you have it pulled it will only get better. HTH good luck!

I have had 2 teeth pulled with only local and they was impact so I know how scared you must be. But to be honest I was fine in about an hour. I actually went to dinner later that night with DH and had NO problem eating anything. Now maybe that was just me, but you might be surprised!

ive had teeth pulled both ways, of course id vote for knockin me out anyday but you have to think of the baby, and when i have to have stuff done the way that i try to look at it is that its going to hurt like hell but its gonna make alll the pain go away :)

Im in the middle of a ton of work myself, ive had 9 caps and bridges put on and working on a new bridge that has been causing problems :( it stinks i hope all workds okay for u :)

don't worry...ull feel soooo much better afterwards
