I absolutely LOVE mine... I'm sorry that you guys don't get along. That stinks! Have you tried to talk to her? She's going to be in your life a very long time-maybe you should try to work through your issues with her?

I'm jealous!!! Wish I loved mine!! Luckily my hubby finds her rather annoying as well!! She calls a million times a day, she blurts out the most inappropriate things, and she's downright rude!!

I don't know mine very well. I've been dating my fiancee for over 4.5 years but his family lives in upstate New York so I haven't had much contact with her over the years. I've spent a ton of weekends with his family but still don't feel like I know her all that well.

I am sorry, but I have to be honest my MIL has been easier than my family to deal with. I know I got lucky.
Just try to stay positive! Maybe focus on the good things she does instead of the negative. And try to remember if there was no MIL then you wouldn't have the man of your dreams.

Well the fact your FH feels the same way as you do, is a BIG help. Imagine if you hated his mom and he was REALLY close with her? I would try to figure out a way for you to get along-as much as it stinks and you shouldn't have to try so hard but this woman is going to be in your life forever!
I guess I really lucked out! My FMIL is great. But if she wasn't, I think I'd make every effort to form a relationship with her-just to save myself some sanity down the road. Good luck

Mine lives half way across the country so I don't know her that well but from what I know, I love her. She is very easy to talk to and I know she adores me. She doesn't call every day which is good and she always sends little care packages for us. Very sweet.

she is still my FMIL... i clicked like her because your 'love her' had too many exclamation points
seriously though, i do love her, but not to any extreme. she gives me my fair share of stress, but now that FH and i are on our own, and not living with her, FFIL and FSIL it's much better.

Unfortunately, my FMIL is VERY difficult to deal with. She is extremely opinionated, gives unsolicited advice and gets mad when its not followed, and is generally a PITA. I have tried to make things better, but have pretty much given up.
This is actually one of the things that is stressing me out the most about my wedding- hope she's well behaved!! FH is not particularly close w/ her either and avoids visiting and calling sometimes b/c he just doesn't want to deal.
