Miller Place Inn Remodeled

Any of you girls booked at the Miller Place Inn and did you know they remodeled the Main Ballroom. I went there to see it and it is nice but different. I booked the Miller Place Inn because it was Victorian which the cocktail hour room still is but the main ballroom in European. I based my entire wedding theme as Victorian to match the place and now it has changed. Please do not get me wrong but this is not what attracted me to the place what should I do. I think they should accomidate me in some way.....

When did they remodel?? I was their for a Christmas Party and it was still the same as the year before, which was the Victorian look. I also looked thier for my wedding, and I remember them telling me they were getting new china, silverware, and replacing carpeting and things like that, but I didn't know they were changing the whole style of the place.

The style they had was Victorian, but yes they changed the Ballroom and they did not even advise the brides at all so I am upset. My wedding is in 8 weeks and now I have no choice

Thanks so much I needed to hear something positive that really helped. I have been so upset lately I actually cried my whole way to work today....Not only this place but things are bad at the job and I still have to save so much more money my FH also has not been working too much since he does construction and the weather has been crapy. I just have to pray everynight that we will get through this crap.

This is a very stressful time...right before the wedding ....making sure everything is how you planned it to be. I know them changing the decor was not in your plans...but just keep thinking how beautiful it will be with all the hard work you have put into this day.

Everything will work out sweetie!!! Keep your chin up and we are all here if you need to vent. FM me if you want. Many to you!!

Everything will be gorgeous!! I once had a teacher whose philosophy was what you know, you know, what do dont know you will never know...

I have taken a bit of that statement, and say it too myself when things seem overwhelming..What I can do, I do, what I can't try not too worry about it.

At the end of the day you will be married to the man you love!!!!

Hope this helps!

Let me tell you my thoughts...I have always been in love with the Miller Place Inn... Dreamed of having my reception there. I finally got engaged this past Dec and couldn't wait to go there to book. Well, as it turned out... a complete disappointment. Not only are you right on the whole decoration thing that happened, the new management SUCKS. They were rude, not helpful, and really disappointed me a whole lot. My heart was broken when I realized I would not be holding my reception there. My FH gave them a piece of our minds and we regret ever booking our Valentine's Day celebration there. But we will still be attending for V-day, but that is the last dime they will get from us. I wish the old owners had never sold. I too was looking for that Victorian feeling, but it was lost. I ended up going with the Riviera. Best of luck to you though.

Thats very disappointing, but its out of your hands now. I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful, the remodeling notwithstanding, and that you will enjoy your wedding day every bit as much as you would have otherwise. I would definitely see if you can get something for it -- probably not money off, but maybe they can throw something else in. Best of luck.

Nancy C - Please don't let this stress you out and ruin your wedding. I am actually considering booking the MPI for my wedding. I went there in the beginning of January and they were still remodeling so I have yet to see how it looks as a finished product. However, the people there were terrific and very helpful so I guess it all depends on who you speak too. In fact, after looking around at other places it seemed like the MPI was very quaint and cozy and it seemed like the individual attention was more apparent there than at other places. As far as the decor, I'm sorry that you were not notified of the change. However, let's look on the bright side. At least the room will be nice and fresh, almost as if it had a facelift. Hopefully it won't fully clash with your theme but perhaps your centerpieces can bring out the look that you were going for. Just an idea. In any event, I'm confident that your wedding will be lovely.

Re: Miller Place Inn Remodeled

I'm bumping this up again. I also didn't know they were going to change the Miller Place Inn, having booked almost 2 years before my upcoming wedding. I actually liked the change, I still think a Victorian wedding would look absolutely gorgeous there. There was one thing my FH HATED and that was that they painted the columns this gold color, but whatever. I thought the bridal room looked much better with furniture in it, the bathrooms were better, the chairs in the ballroom were MUCH better and the doors into the ballroom were so much better then the old 'school' doors. Don't worry everyone is going to love it. The Victorian theme will still be a hit with your guests. Good luck with your wedding.

I would say talk to the owner, see if they can do something for you.Your day will turn out beautiful. Also went to see them and they were very rude the girl we spoke to was i think louann was her name. She was rude and talk to us like we were stupid.First impressions with me are everything,so i decided that place was crossed of the list because of her attitude.
