Millerridge Inn
My friend is newly engaged and has her heart set on getting married at the Millerridge cottage. They told her she had to guarantee 250 people for a saturday night in July, and they said if she only has 200 she has to pay 1000 extra! Tell me, is this rediculous? Is there a way to negotiate around this? Also can you give me an idea of how much it is per person?

Re: Millerridge Inn
Hi Christy,I looked at Millerridge Inn also and had the same problem, except my night was booked so they wanted me to guarantee 250 for a Saturday afternoon
They do not seem to be very flexible in this regards. The only thing I can suggest is if she falls below her minimum can she add extras on (extra carving station, or desert) just so she's not paying for extra meals?? Either way they get the same amount of money, but now it's not as wasteful.Good Luck!!

Re: Millerridge Inn
Millerridge is popular so they really set their own terms. The cottage is very large and can accomdate well over 300 guests. Honestly I would tell her to look around at a few more places before giving them so much extra money, or change her day to a daytime wedding or off-season so her guarentee is a lot less. If she is inviting 200 she should not guarentee over 160.

Re: Millerridge Inn
Getting married there in Nov. We had to guarantee 175 for a Saturday night. And we have to pay a $500 room fee. If we hit 200 people we won't have to pay the fee. Remember that your vendors (band, photographer, etc.) count as plates. Feel free to forum mail me with any questions she has.

Re: Millerridge Inn
Not sure how many guests your friend is expecting, but I am getting marriage at the Milleridge Carriage House on a Sunday night in December and I had to guarantee 75. The room holds 130. We are expecting 100.

Re: Millerridge Inn
I am getting married at the Cottage in March 2003. I had to only guarantee 175 and room fee was dropped. If your friend does it in the off months of Jan-Mar I think they will work with you on room guarantees and the fees.

Re: Millerridge Inn
michele31 is right, they pretty much do what they want because the can. which isn't to say they are bad or mean or anything, they are very nice. its more like, here it is, take it or leave it. the only thing they are a little flexible on is the headcount. we also tried to add something to the cocktail hour and it was too expensive of an addition.

Re: Millerridge Inn
One thing to take into cosideration is that you are the only wedding there. You have the whole staffs' attention.

Re: Millerridge Inn
The Milleridge was one of the places that we looked at when we were looking for reception halls. They told us that we had to guarantee at least 200 people for a Sat. in Sept. If we booked for 2004 before Sept. of this year it would be about $130 a person but after Sept. of this year then we would have to pay next years price which could be about 10% more per person. That turned me off, so the idea of these columns in the middle of the room also turned me off. It is a beautiful place. My girlfriend had her reception there last June and it was great, but it was not me. That is why we went with the Manor East. Tell your friend that if she wants, she should look into other places where guaranting 200 people is fine and that there is no extra charge.

Re: Millerridge Inn
Hi girls. I actually work at the Milleridge Inn. The actual Inn not the Cottage. I can tell you that the Cottage is extremely busy and thats why they can be the way they are about min etc. I know that you can get them to throw stuff in though...like extra entree choices and vieneese tables. Sometimes they will be flexible about mins if you book in months other than April , May, June , August , Sept, Oct. Also the prices do go up in Dec because that is their busiest month. Its a really nice place for a xmas wedding.

Re: Millerridge Inn
Hi everyone! I'm getting married there in TEN DAYS!!!!! I agree that they are flexible in some ways-I did not pay a room fee & they lowered the room minimum, threw in extra stuff & have said yes to almost everything I've asked for! Selena is the best! I think your friend needs to be a little flexible if that's the place she loves. Matt & Jen-here you go!
