Re: Mini vent...I hate football!!!

I don't get annoyed when he watches football. I just take that time to do my own thing. I may go food shopping,do laundry, cook or go on the computer.
I know there is going to be some things he likes to do that don't interest me (watch football) and I let him enjoy it.

Re: Mini vent...I hate football!!!

Well I'm a college football fan and my DH and I have the same alma mater and watch our games religiously. I don't mind so much all the games as I like to watch too --- but what gets me is ESPN Classic! That channel makes me so mad b/c my DH will watch a game that he's already seen a million times before and the game could be 15 years old. The worst is when he catches the 1996 Sugar Bowl (UF won national title -- our alma mater) on ESPN Classics -- when we have the game on video tape -- and he's seen it a million times! He gets this silly grin on his face and goes into a trance -- it's quite comedic. I just have to laugh!

Re: Mini vent...I hate football!!!

I totally agree with November, we both have our obsessions and his happens to be sports. As long as it doesn't stop you from going out or doing things together all the time then I think it is OK.

Re: Mini vent...I hate football!!!

I can't wait til football season is over! It seems like our weekends are always planned around the Giants schedule. I don't mind that he watches football, but it is a little annoying when I suggest that we do something and he says we can't because he has to be home in time to watch the game.

Football

I think its something inborn. Our Godson who will be 2 on Jan 15th already chears for the Cleveland Browns, knows football on TV when he sees it AND complains if you switch the channel when its on. We gave him a Nerf football as one of his Christmas presents. As soon as he opened the package he started yelling Football and running around the room with the ball under his arm.

I just looked at my sister in law and said they've got him already

Re: Football

My DH is a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan (they stink, but that's another story) and when we first started dating, if they lost, I didn't see him that day or barely talk to him because he was a big sore loser! But times have a changed, and he can laugh about them now -- isn't it great what my being in his life has done for him!! Anyhow, since the Cowboys are very rarely on television and we don't have a dish, he goes to the bar around the block to watch them and THAT'S MY TIME!! Whoo hoo!!! And what do I do with MY TIME you ask? Oh clean his laundry, clean his house, cook his dinner -- it's all about him isn't it?? LOL

One day while I was making him Veal Marsala and doing the laundry, I ran to the laundromat across from the bar to dry my towels and I asked him to pick them up when the game was finished, well you would've thought I asked the guy to give birth because he turned pale white and started sweating!! HE NEVER WAS IN A LAUNDROMAT BEFORE!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? I had to give him 'instructions' on what to do!!! Only me, I'm telling ya!!!

I went off on a tangent, but to get back to football --having grown up in a house where my father, mother and sister were into it, it doesn't really bother me unless it affects our plans. Like I didn't appreciate being given a time frame in which we had to do our shopping so that he could get home to watch the game or games!! Now I am clueless when it comes to football (baseball is my game) and I've tried to learn, but he gets all annoyed with my 'stupid questions that mean nothing' -- well excuse me, I think my questions are good ones, but apparently to him they have nothing to do with the game!! So, I don't even bother to watch with him anymore!!! I do like Vinny Testaverde and when I tell my DH that he kind of looks like him, he gets all p-o'd because he HATES the Jets and the Giants -- well buddy, last time I checked they're in the playoffs, where's Dallas? LOL
