I know that this is supposed to be a wedding site dedicated to all things happy but I need to vent and I feel uncomfortable doing it to friends and family. My mom passed almost 7 1/2 years ago from lung cancer. My brothers and sisters (there's 7 of us) were all very close to her. Losing her was the worst day of my life. I was only 21. She's missing all the important things that are happening for all of us. With my wedding approaching I'm thinking about her and missing her more than usual. She was supposed to walk me down the aisle. She was and still is my best friend. It hurts my heart to know I'll never see her again. I'm trying to include her in my wedding without making it like a memorial. It's difficult because everyone has ideas of what I should do to remember her on that day... I just wanna.. I know this sounds bad... I just wanna forget her that day... I want this to be the happiest day of my life (obviously when I have children that will replace it)but I know that I'll be a mess if all I do is think about her. She was and still is the most important person in my life. I love and miss her very much but I want it to be a happy memory. I feel awful for saying this cause it makes me sound evil. This whole experience is very bittersweet....I'm just sad.

Re: Missing My Mom....
I am so sorry that you are feeling this way. I don' know how you feel and I can't imagine how hard this is for you. You are not evil and there is nothing wrong with feeling the way you feel. This is such a special day and it's difficult to imagine a special day without a special person. Try not to listen to everyone's ideas--it will get overwhelming and make you feel like you 'have' to do something. She'll be there with you the entire day and I'm sure would only want you to be happy. Whatever you decide to do or not do will be absolutely ok, because it's your day and nothing will change the way you feel about your Mom or your relationship and memories.
Keeping you in my thoughts xo

I'm so sorry to hear this. I can't even imagine how you're feeling right now. My only advice is that - those close to you will already know how much you wish your mom could be there, so it doesn't matter how you choose to include her in your day. This is something very personal, so don't let anyone's suggestions get to you. Do what you feel comfortable with.

Im very sorry for your loss. Just know your mom is looking down at you and sharing in all of your special moments. She would want you to be happy on your wedding day. How about just using a small picture frame and hang it on your bouquet. It will be a way to honor her and keep her close to you.

Re: Missing My Mom....
Instead of party favors I'm donating to the Lung Cancer Society in her honor... I'm also saving a chair for her and placing a bouquet of her fav flowers on it and I'm putting her rosery beads around my bouquet.

Aww I am so sorry that you are hurting. I can't even fathom what you are feeling right now. What if you wore a piece of her jewelry? That way you know she is with you, but it's not 'intrusive' where it will upset you throughout your day... if that makes sense. No matter what though, she IS with you and always will be. I'm sure she is watching over you and is so happy and proud!

It certainly does not make you sound evil! You know best how to honor your mother, and how to celebrate your wedding, and you are entitled to handle these situations however is best for you.. I am so sorry for your loss

I'm so sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you. I think that you should honor your mother the best way you know how and do what makes you feel comfortable. Remember that she is your guardian angel watching over you and she is here with you and your family in spirit.

That is so sad... I'm sorry for your loss. She seems like she was such a wonderful person and I think it is great you want to honor her on your big day.
Maybe you can light a candle in her honor as well? If you do a unity candle, maybe light another one next to it for her...as not only do you always have a unity with your FH but with her as well.
I know whatever you do will be wonderful and I know your mom will be watching over you and be so happy for you.

I cried when I read this, I think it's so beautiful, and a wonderful way to have her included. I lost my uncle to lung cancer a couple weeks ago, and lost my grandfather to it as well. Keep her in your heart and she'll always be there with you <3
I'm so sorry for the loss of your uncle and grandfather. Thank you

I'm sorry you are feeling so sad. I'm sure she would want you to be nothing but happy on your beautiful wedding day. I've seen people hang tiny picture charms around their bouquet with a picture of their loved ones. It's a beautiful touch. HTH
