I know that this is supposed to be a wedding site dedicated to all things happy but I need to vent and I feel uncomfortable doing it to friends and family. My mom passed almost 7 1/2 years ago from lung cancer. My brothers and sisters (there's 7 of us) were all very close to her. Losing her was the worst day of my life. I was only 21. She's missing all the important things that are happening for all of us. With my wedding approaching I'm thinking about her and missing her more than usual. She was supposed to walk me down the aisle. She was and still is my best friend. It hurts my heart to know I'll never see her again. I'm trying to include her in my wedding without making it like a memorial. It's difficult because everyone has ideas of what I should do to remember her on that day... I just wanna.. I know this sounds bad... I just wanna forget her that day... I want this to be the happiest day of my life (obviously when I have children that will replace it)but I know that I'll be a mess if all I do is think about her. She was and still is the most important person in my life. I love and miss her very much but I want it to be a happy memory. I feel awful for saying this cause it makes me sound evil. This whole experience is very bittersweet....I'm just sad.

Re: Missing My Mom....
My prayer for you is that on your special day you feel nothing but joy! It is not selfish of you to not want sadness to creep in! And it is what your mom would want for you! So.. No guilt.. You are a beautiful tribute to your mom and she will live on through the family you will have someday! You have remembered her in a lovely way...now Let yourself just be happy! This is a precious time.. Enjoy every minute. Blessings to you! Xoxoxit is going to be great! ...You know howthey say...to everything there is a season? A time to mourn.. A time for joy.. .? Well it is the Time for joy baby! Xox

Re: Missing My Mom....
This does not make u a bad or evil person at all!! I can relate- 3 months ago I lost my grandfather to lung cancer...he was really more like my father and would have been the one to walk me down the aisle. I went through a tough time too and at one point didn't even want a wedding since he can't be there. Just remember she will always be in your heart and looking down on you on your special days with such love and pride.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You should never feel evil!! If you think it will be too hard on you then that is completely understandable. It is a choice you have to make for yourself I don't think its wrong or right. I can completely understand how you are feeling. I lost my dad very suddenly almost 5 years ago and I feel that ache and longing inside for them to be here and be a part of the wedding, and just life in general. Its hard because you want to include your loved ones who have passed on but also don't want to be so over emotional and not be able to enjoy your day. I know it is going to be hard and I'm sure that I am going to cry a ton my wedding day, as I already have during the planning process missing him along the way and whenever someone asks who is going to walk me down the aisle or who will I dance with..but he was my dad, my best friend and my superhero. I decided that I do want to recognize him on that day because he shaped me into the person I am today and even though he won't be there in body I want to feel him there is spirit even if it will make me cry and ruin my make up.
If you don't want to make it too memorial like with candles and pictures you can do something in her honor, like play a special song once during the wedding in her memory. I am going to do that (the twist bc we always did the twist together) along with a donation favor in his honor to the Kidney Foundation because he had Kidney disease and kidney failure. I'm sure you probably already thought of the donation idea.
As for the walking down the aisle nothing can replace the person you always imagined walking beside you but I want to get a charm for my bouquet with his picture in it so he will be with me in some way when I am walking toward my FH.
Keep your chin up! And no matter what you decide to do you, your mom I'm sure knows how much you love and miss her and would support whatever would make you happiest and be easiest on you on an already emotional day.

I started crying reading what you wrote. I'm so very sorry for your loss. The pain of losing a parent is horrible. This whole process had been very bittersweet. The funny thing is, my mother prob wouldn't have helped very much with the planning if she was around cause she wasn't really into that stuff. She was around for the planning of my oldest sisters wedding and wasn't really into it. She passed about 6 months before her big day. I'm already doing the donations in her honor and I'm saving a seat with a bouquet of her favorite flowers and having her rosary beads around my bouquet. I feel like that is enough right now but I don't know how I'll feel later on down the road. Playing a song for your father is a great idea. I didn't even think of that. Thank you for your kind words and I know that your father will be there in spirit and watching over you on your big day.
