MOB and MOG

My mom is having her dress made and the color of the dress is champagne. So this weekend I went to my Fiance mothers house and she pulls out from the closet her dress. The dress was also champagene. Now the dresses look nothing alike except for the colors. I must admit I am upset that she is wearing t he same exact color as my mother. My mother said she doesn't care that they will be in t he same color. When I told my fiance is got upset with me because he said ' what does it matter what color they are wearing. I wouldn't dare to say anything to my future mother in law. Please tell me if I am over reacting??? Please help!!!

Well I don't think it matters ... I can see that you might be a bit 'shocked' that they would wear the same color, espcailly if you hadn't thought they would. As long as both women (you mother and your FI's mother) don't mind you shouldn't worry about it.

Its definitely not a big deal, especially if your mom doesn't care.

This is a smmmaalll detail that won't even come close to ruining your wedding!

I think you are lucking out if your mom isn't upset about it. Try not to let it upset you; no one will be paying attention to them anyway. They will all be looking at you, the bride!

now if that would have happened in my family it would be a big deal!!!! its not something that should cause you stress but technically she should have waited until your mother chose her dress......hey maybe it will look nice in the pics!

If your mom is not upset about it, don't worry about it. No one else will notice because you will be the center of attention!

Don't worry about this. On the day of the wedding you won't even notice or care.

dont worry about it. i can understand how you feel, though. both MOB and MOG are wearing a purpulish colour. MOG's dress is almost black like purple and my MOH is in black.

at first i was a little upset, but you gotta pick the things that are really important to you to get upset over, or else you will get upset over every little thing. this is little, dont sweat it!

Agree. As long as it's not the same dress!

Funny story: On my wedding day, my mother came out of the ladies room after getting dressed and my step sister said to her 'My mother bought that same dress to wear to the wedding, but decided at the last minute to wear something else'

Could you imagine if my mother AND step mother showed up wearing the same dress????

If neither of them are upset, I wouldn't sweat it. I don't even know what ours are wearing....neither has figured it out yet.

My mom also told FMIL that she doesn't care if they wear the same color or even the same dress! If she doesn't care, I don't either. I just want everyone to be comfortable in what they decided to wear.

If your mom isn't upset about it, then I don't think you need to stress about it too much.

FMIL wanted to know what color my mom was wearing before she went shopping, but my mom hadn't even started looking at dresses at that point. My mother told her to buy whatever color she liked and wear what she felt the most comfortable in. Turns out my MOH is wearing dark purple, my mother is wearing pale pink, and my FMIL is wearing lavendar. I think it will look nice in the pictures and the same could be true for you!

Did you tell your FMIL your mom's is champagne after or before you saw it? If both of them are ok w/it, dont let it stress you! but i can see y this would bother you.. it would bother me (and it shouldnt), but that is because my FMIL does things like that to step on people toes or to gain the center of attention...

I agree with everyone that if your Mom is okay with it then that's all that really matters. I think it would irk me a little as well, but I would try and let it go.

Actually...etiquette states that the MOB and the MOG are SUPPOSED to coordinate the colors so you have nothing to worry about

I don't think this is a big deal either... There are too many things to worry about. Don't spend too much effort on this one!
