It looks kind of white to me - not diamond white or white white... but more like a pearl white. I've only seen this pic. it's ordered and altered and in her posession.
I'm scared it's too light.
What do you think?
Would you wear this to a wedding? Would you walk the bride down the aisle in this?
And yes I know people will know I'm the bride and I'll have the veil and all.... but isn't this kind of white?? And I'm thinking about walking down the aisle and then pics. If it looks this white in pics now.
I don't know. My mother wants to wear white and my BM wants to get married on my wedding day. What could be next?? Am I jinxing myself by even asking??
UPDATE: She came over with it. It looks more silver when not in natural sunlight. But it's still VERY LIGHT and VERY ORNATE and very competitive with my dress. My dress isn't sooo detailed. It would have looked funny for her to walk me down the aisle. I was more like... it's not as bad as I thought it would be. It's OK. She obviously could see that I wasn't happy with it. So i took a picture of her dress and put that picture next to the picture of my dress and her and her friend both saw what I was talking about. She agreed to get another dress to walk me down the aisle in and for pictures. Then she will put this dress on for the reception. I told her... it's not even so much me... but other people will talk about you in that dress. I felt sooo bad for her and for the dress. She felt horrible. She was crying at my house then she went home and called me and cried again. She was saying 'your stupid mother bought the wrong dress'. she said she wanted to buy a dress she loved and her focus was on it not looking like a brides dress and she wasn't focused on how the 2 dresses would look together side by side. She was also thinking about it for the in person factor... not for pictures. In pictures her dress reflects light soo much that it looks lighter and the crystals really show. In pictures of my dress... my beading and stuff doens't show... so her's actually looks more flashy in pictures than mine does. Bottom line... she felt really bad and she's getting a 2nd dress. WOW this whole thing was hard. I knew she would feel bad. She was very excited about this dress.

My sorry hun, Id be upset too. I had my SIL wedding last weekend and my MIL, her mother of course, wore a white dress. She said it was ivory but, it was white.
I don't understand people!!
the WORST part is she's supposed to walk me down the aisle... and we are going to blend. I was sooooo looking forward to walking down the aisle - that was one of the big moments i was looking forward to. Well that's been killed. I'm def not looking forward to that anymore.
Is there anyway she can get it dyed?

Re: MOB dress.... is this too light??
Kerri,
IMHO it looke silvery-white - which to me is a BIG NO-NO. I would NEVER wear a white-type dress/gown to a wedding - ESP if I was the MOB!
I dont know the relationship you have w/ your mom - but altered dress or not - this was wrong of her to buy & have altered w/out your seeing it first & giving your approval. Go dress shopping w/her if you can & there are plenty of seamstresses in dry cleaners that can alter w/in a few days if need be.
I would have flipped out if my mom bought a dress this color...to me it just seems like she doesnt want you to be the only one who shines that day...which is very wrong to me...sorry for being bridezilla-ish...but I felt so upset for you when I read this post

I actually think it looks like a light champagne...very pretty. I think it wil compliment your dress very nicely..but definitly not take over. And since shes walking you down the aisle, I think it fits perfectly

Re: MOB dress.... is this too light??
to you Kerri!!!
I think the dress looks too close to white but it may just be the lighting in the picture. Reserve judgment until you actually see it in person. Then, if you don't like it, tell her she has to get a new dress if she wants to walk you down the aisle. Lay down the law regardless of whether or not she'll call you a b!tchy bride (which by the way you are not!)
She still has plenty of time to go to Nordstrom or Bloomies or Saks or Lord & Taylor and get a dress off the rack. They've got great MOB dresses.
Good luck!!

Re: MOB dress.... is this too light??
have you seen it in person? it does kinda look like white, but it could also just be the picture...
either way you are going to be the most beautiful woman there!! all eye are going to be on you no matter what anyone else is wearing!!!
try and cheer up! i know stress before is ruff but just know that it will all be worth it and it will be YOUR DAY!!! no matter who else is getting married that morning or what anyone else is wearing!

Re: MOB dress.... is this too light??
is there any way she can get it dyed? i understand that she can not return it but maybe she could buy something off the rack that is nice for the ceremony and pictures. if she has her heart set on wearing it maybe she can change in to it for the reception. ultimately it is YOUR day and your mom should understand that.

Good idea re: changing. Convince her she can make a grand entrance with her 'costume change'

Ugh, Kerri, I can't even with this with you anymore, you poor girl. I would flipping lose my shiz so badly if my mother or FMIL bought that dress...I'm so sorry, but I would. What would possess her to buy a dress in that color and that ornate?

Re: MOB dress.... is this too light??
I am going to be completely honest here...
That dress looks kind of bridal to me. Another poster said that it's ornate. It is. And because of that and the color- it looks bridal.
But listen, don't feel bad. Honestly, if your Mom has no problem wearing this, fine but she is going to have A LOT of people talking about her.
I had two guests at my wedding who wore white. I didn't care and EVERYONE talked about them. So, if she's fine with people talking about how inappropriate her dress is, there is nothing that can be done...
And, you're the bride so ALL eyes will be on you.

Re: MOB dress.... is this too light?? UPDATE
If I'm being honest, the dress totally looks silver to me and I have never seen a bride wear silver.
This is also coming from someone whose MIL totally wore a dress that was the same color as mine. And it had a train sooooooooooo maybe i'm just less reactionary because its silver?
