Modeling info?

Modeling info?

DH and I are thinking about having Kiera do some modeling. I am so against modeling and I never thought I would even consider it for my daughter. But here I am considering it. She gets looks and comments everywhere we go and she LOVES the camera. I mean when she sees it she starts smiling. When we had her 6 month photos done she loved sitting there posing and the people that took them kept asking us why we don't have her modeling. If we did decide to do it it's something I would only want to do for a couple of months. I don't want her to get into a life of modeling and acting.

So we're thinking about it and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences that you could share (good or bad welcome). I want to get a full idea of what she's in for if we decide to do this. Also if anyone has any suggestions of how to start I would appreciate the info. Feel free to FM if you don't want to post.

Thanks!

From what I've heard, it's a real pain in the butt. You have to trek into the city, and sometimes at a moments notice.

Scotty had been approached about it when he was younger, but it just sounded like too much.

Yes but how do you find out about the casting calls or where do you send pics to?

Gabriella does modeling for Fisher Price and has for about a year now. I don't live in Long Island...I actually live near the FP site and it's a well known secret for the area. The pay isn't all that much at all, but I do it just for fun.

Some important things to pass along, the baby's personality comes more in to play than the looks. Agents want baby's who are social and very patient (for the long waits, different positions for photos, and being able to separate from Mom without anxiety.) Also, you will usually only be given less than 24 hours notice for the photo shoot and be expected to be there when they say. I also know that the market is highly competitive to get babies in to the agency. We live to far from NYC to even attempt it.

Any more questions, feel free to ask. I hope it helps.

You have to be very careful about scams in this area. Many 'agents' want you to spend hundreds of $ upfront for photos, mailings etc...a real agent should not cost you anything like that. I would only work with the higest level agents like Ford etc...And Nancy is right, it is all about personality at this age and being able to be photographed without Mommy holding the baby.

It is a lot of going into NYC, waiting for hours and then nothing....so if you don't mind that type of life style it is great. Also, you have to deal with crazy stage moms who want their child to be the next Brittany and buy them a mansion.

Thanks for the tips. I have heard about the personality being the most importabt and I do think she has a great personality. She truly loves the camera. As soon as she sees it she starts smiling. She has no problems being away from me and she'll go to anyone. That's why I'm glad we went for the studio to have her 6 month shots done. She sat there and laughed, played, whatever. She was just happy to look around at everything.

I am a little unsure about the short notice since I work FT. But my mom watches her and she said that she will be more than happy to take her if need be.
