Hi all! I'm no longer a bride (married two years and counting!), but my best friend is getting married and is having quite a problem finding a decent bridesmaid dress.
Essentially, for religious reasons (particularly on her fiance's family's side), she needs to have a bridesmaid dress that will be modest and cover up but still look good. Apparently it needs to have sleeves and a relatively high neckline. We are thinking perhaps separates so that those of us who choose could purchase a second top for the reception, since it will be a summer wedding and we're going to melt in long sleeves in August! Also, lower price is always better.
Can anybody help us?
Thanks!
Sorry, forgot to mention: we'd like it to be something we can try on locally, not just order online. Thanks again!

Alfred Angelo has some great separates.

Thanks, we checked Alfred Angelo, but there's nothing modest enough. That was actually what she originally wanted, before this whole modesty thing became an issue.

what if you had modest tops made to match an alfred angelo bottom.
Can you use bolero jackets?

Re: Modest bridesmaid dresses - please help!
Her original plan was bolero type jackets over the dress of our choice (she'd choose a fabric, we'd choose the dress and put the jacket over it). However, it's now looking like her fiance's rabbi will insist on more coverage than a bolero will offer.
Wouldn't it be nice if, when planning your wedding, people would keep their requirements and opinions to themselves?
How would we find a more modest top to go with an AA bottom? Do you think they could do something custom for not too much money?

Would these dresses work or are the sleeves too short? They are from beautifullymodest.com and magicmomentcollections.com and the last is by Watters and Watters fall 2009 collection.
