MOH issue? Need advice

MOH issue? Need advice

My sister is my MOH. It is now 6 months until my wedding... and she is pretty much totally uninvolved in the wedding planning. She mentioned something to me about my mom throwing a party for me (which I assume is to be my 'surprise' bridal shower) and sounded almost really bored by the whole thing. Then my friends and I have been trying to get in touch with her about planning a bachelorette party, to figure out an event, hotel stuff, etc. and she isn't even returning their emails. I am getting frustrated because I am her only sister getting married! I really feel like she doesn't 'get it.' What should I do?

Awe! I am sorry that you are going through this... how old is your sister? I wouldn't tell you take her out of the wedding b/c she is your sister but I think you should have a talk with her and see what's going on and how she feels...

have a sis to sis chat w/ her to find out if somethings wrong. Is she aware of the MOH duties?

I think that maybe you should confront your sister and ask her if she really wants to be you MOH and why she hasn't returned the emails from you friends. Explain to her that it bothers you that she is doesn't seem interested that you are getting married.

I'm sorry My sister is the same way and it hurts. After my sister telling me that she wouldn't be my MOH and she's not 'into the whole wedding thing' really bothered me. HTH

She is almost 23. She just doesn't seem excited at all.

We know as brides we are leaping over with joy because it's 'our day'. Sometimes we have to realize that some people won't show that outward emotion because they are not in our shoes. So, they may have a more laid back approach.

You should have a sit down with her and tell her how you feel. Maybe she does have something plan and you just don't know. JMO!

Sounds like my sister. Mine didn't even get me a card for my e party. Just showed up with her bf and friend and drank the dayaway.

That's why I made my MOH my absolute best friend.

My advice to you, would be to just let her be.If she doesnt want to be involved, then so be it. Im sure your bridesmaids are 100% interested and will make up for anything shes not into

My Sister got married when I was 21 and quite honestly, I was very into myself then and did not get it. However, I was involved with things and did participate in the planning but to me- it was just a 'whatever' thing. I was going to school and had just started dating FH. So, your Sister probably doesn't 'get it' and I am sure she is excited for you- I was excited for my Sister but I was younger and didn't see it as a priority. I wouldn't can her- she is your Sister.

Is she younger than you? Does she know what the typical MOH responsibilities are? I wouldn't can her. Talk to her but in a non-attacking way. You don't want her to get defensive. Have a heart to heart.

Try talking to her

I'm so sorry that your sister is not as enthusiastic about the wedding planning as you had hoped. I wanted to have my FSIL as my MOH (as a sign of respect), but my FH said that it would be a big mistake b/c she would sit on her @ss and be unenthusiastic about everything. So, I took his advice and asked someone else, lol.
I agree that I think she is not in that phase of her life yet where she understands how important a wedding is. Or maybe she is just jealous that you are 'in the spotlight'. If you talk to her and she is still uninvolved, I would ask someone else to be a 2nd MOH...just to make sure things get done!

I would take her out to dinner...have a girls night out so the two of you can bond. Maybe you could find a MOH book at the store for her. You could give it to her as a 'present', instead of 'lecturing' her on the duties and responsibilites of a MOH.

Def. don't be afraid to sit down and get this off your chest. She needs to respect you and know that is is an important time in your life. She needs to step up her game!!!!

Best of luck!
