I think that it is a sad incident and my heart goes out for that lost baby..God rest her soul.
As for the mom, I think it is a combination of things, a woman in post partum depression and a failed system. She has a history of PPD and as unsavory as it is to think of a person doing it..it happens more often than the media lets on.

I have seen PPD in action, I had a friend who delievered around the same time. She didnt want to hold the baby and was basically unattached..mind u this was someone who during pregnancy played baby mozart to her belly. But after delivery she would let everyone else hold and take care of the baby but her, this lasted for a while until she got on some meds and eventually she started becoming more involved and loving. Its as if she changed overnight..now they are in seperable.

I feel sorry for her if it was indeep PPD but if it was not then definitely she deserves all the insults that people sling her way.

I am so sick and saddened by this story.

But I am also enraged!! What the HELL is going on in Texas and what the F*@$! is wrong with those 'investigators' from the Child Protective Services????????

I think they too need to be EVALUATED!!!!!!

This story is nauseating! I can't even imagine how sick you would have to be to even think about doing such a thing- to anyone never mind your own child! It's horrible. Obviously something has to be mentally wrong with this woman- but to blame it on depression!

Did you all hear about the woman from NY who starved her (I believe 11 month old daughter) to death- authorities knew about the case and did not do a very good job investigating- the baby weighed next to nothing!

Stuff like this makes me sick to my stomach. It disgusts me how horrible people can be.

Call it old fashioned, call it whatever.. but People like this should be prosecuted 'an eye for an eye' style...... GRRRR

This is so sickening, if I told my DH that I wanted to send my children to God he would right away question that and get me help. This was the passage that truly frightens me and could have saved that precious baby:

Schlosser had been investigated on child-neglect allegations this year, but Texas Child Protective Services had recently closed a seven-month investigation, concluding that Schlosser did not pose a risk to her children.


I mean how did no one notice that she was that far gone. They really need to look into how CPS is run in Texas.
