Mom's question about the ladies room......

Mom's question about the ladies room......

She asked me how I'll use the ladies room in my dress.
I tried to explain that because I'm using a high-waist shaper that rises higher than the bottom of my corset, the corset has to be undone and redone, or I can't get the shaper off and on. This makes it pretty much the same as getting undressed and redressed.
I also explained that some brides have bridesmaids hold their dress. She didn't believe me.
Am I wrong about all of this?
More importantly, has anyone used a high waisted undergarment with a Maggie Sottero corset back and been able to take it off and on under the corset?

My one bridesmaid came in with me the first time I had to go to the bathroom and held my dress for me.

The second time, my husband helped me.

I had a Maggie corsette, and honestly - try your hardest NOT to have to undo that and redo it again. Took us long enough to get it just right when I was getting in the dress!

I went right before the ceremony, and my mom and MOH helped me, but after that I didn't have to go for the rest of the night. I was so preoccupied and enjoying the night, and probably sweating out any beverage I had from dancing, I didn't go to the bathroom until we got back to the hotel.

Not sure if that helped actually.... but one way or another you'll figure it out! Don't worry!

I have a maggie dress corset too and I do not plan on wearing undergarments underneath (besides panites obviously) b/c the corset ***** you in, you don't need shapewear. have you tried the dress on withouth the shapewear? Maybe you can skip it, you would probably be more comfortable too.

LOL, it edited s u c k s

Ok, the corset holds you in.

The bridal shop should be able to tell you the best way.
I decided taking my dress off would be the easiest thing, since the bathroom in the bridal suite is tiny--no room for anyone to hold my dress up for me!!

Yes, good point - I didn't have to wear anything underneath besides underwear either - corsettes do a great job of holding you in!

I didn't have a Maggie dress nor did I have a corset style dress. But I just wanted to say that I did not have to go to the bathroom all day. I went right before I out my dress on & then I went as soon as DH took it off at the hotel.

really, all day? did you drink alcohol at the reception? That will do it everytime for me, esp beer, that is why I don't want to drink allot.

When I booked my RH they mentioned that your bridal attendant is your shadow for the day and is there even when you have to go to the bathroom But I'll most likely have my sister or Mom help me.

Yes, originally I didn't need shapewear, but when the dress came in there was a 4 inch gap at the bottom of the corset, so the seamstress put in panels. This made the dress too big. She's taken it in, but it's tied as tight as it will go and it is tight enough to make removing a shaper impossible, but not tight enough to replace the shaper. According to her, there's no way to make it tie tighter without making it too small. I'm considering getting another dress entirely, and trying to negotiate this topic isn't making the case for keeping the Maggie any stronger.

Re: Mom's question about the ladies room......

I have a Maggie corset dress, and because of the corset, I am not going to wear a high waisted shaper. I thought long and hard about this - I usually wear major support since I am less than svellte, but I want to be able to pee without having to undo the dress and un-velcro my bra.

But, now that I think about it, I might just undo the dress so I can pee in private. It's one thing to get semi-naked in front of people, but to then have to pee in front of people, I don't think so.
Still won't wear a high waisted shaper.

Re: Mom's question about the ladies room......

most of my friends/family who've gotten married has had 4girls help(one holding up each side of the dress)...i do have a modest friend who literally got dressed & redressed(which i think is crazy!)but get this...my friend who just got married had the POOFIEST dress i've ever seen(she had TWO slips, plus added crinlin on top of the crinlin that was already there).....and i swear this is true.....she brought a big 5gallon bucket with her to the reception hall...and when she had to pee her girls slid the bucket under her dress!!!!!! NO JOKE. personally i think it's gross lol but hey whatever works. I honestly never had to pee at our wedding...i have no idea why! (and i didn't pee before we left my house either)..guess i just lucked out and never had to go! if i did i probably woulda had my girls help me.

I never went once I was in my dress either, my MOH kept coming over to check on me bc I had told her I'd need help, but I ended up not having to go the whole time.

Now as soon as the dress was unzipped, that's a different story!!!!

HA HA HA! ME TOO! I'm the same way... I have to go every 10 minutes. And when I'm drinking-forget it!!!! FH wants to start counting how many times a day I say 'I have to pee'.

Can't we just pick our dresses up and sort of aim for the toilet??

Re: Mom's question about the ladies room......

ahh, this stinks! Men get to wear a tux and be comfy and women wear these huge dresses that cost an exuberant amount of $$ for one day and then we can't even go pee in peace.

Is your high shaper Spanx? Because they have a crotch cutout in them...so your girls can hold your dress if you have to pee.

For me, I don't know if it was nerves or just the excitement of the day, but I didn't pee once! My friends have not been as lucky though...I had to help my friend change her tampon.

oh no! I could not imagine!!! In that case I would have to take off the dress, I couldn't let someone help me with that one.
