Moms.... Venting

So my mom calls me this morning... at 8am, which makes me think something is wrong right... well she calls me to say that since me and FH are planning our eparty for labor day, and since my cousins wedding is August 30th, it wouldn't work for the family, unless I didn't want them there! Why would she say that!

She makes me so mad!! I completely forgot about my cousins wedding, and when I mentioned my eparty, she acted like she wasn't even paying attention, saying oh well we have a lot of family weddings this summer, I was like great but the most important one for you should be your only daughters. Those aren't your kids, if you don't show up to their's you won't really be missed, mine should be priority.

I love my mom, but this whole your wedding is so far way apprehension crap is getting old!!!

awwwwwwww sorry hun! I understand....my mom puts the pressure on me too comments like oh well by the time you get married they can whell my coffin down the aisle so i can be a witness, don't make things any easier. Maybe someone in the fam said something to her?

I'm sorry but I'd have to side with mom...bump it up to sept I'm not doing mine until October to avoid getting in the way of other family and friends weddings...I think about it and consider changing it, your cousin can not change he wedding date...and if it was opposite you would want your aunt at your wedding....I dunno that just my opinion

Vent away gurl!!!! Doesnt it feel so early in the process to begin the aggravation??!? I 2nd you on the whole mom annoying the crap outta you thing.... I had to come out and say to my mom last night... 'whose wedding is this again? mine or yours???' And I never thought I would have had to say that to her....

Im sorry to hear about your mom! I don't understand why she would make such a comment...... She's gotta know you better than that then when you set the date.... you werent trying to get your family not to come! and anyways how does she know they wont come???? Talk to her... Im sure once you smooth things out you'll feel better....

Changing the day isn't an issue, We haven't even booked a place yet, I have no problem changing it. I love my cousin and understand that her wedding is only a few days before, I have like 20 cousins, and like five are getting married this summer, we were just at her sisters wedding on Friday. I really just forgot it was so close to when I was thinking about having my eparty...

I have a problem with my mom and her slick way of making you feel guilty! She does that all the time!!! URRRRR

Ugh...how frustrating...maybe you should try ttalking to mom after you both cool off abit? Let her know that her comment upset you and hurt your feelings...Do you think she would react well to that? Let her know that changing the date isnt an issue but you didnt like the way she spoke to you about the party. I am a firm believer in honesty as the best policy...if you dont speak up now things will just keep adding on and getting you more upset until you snap!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I would just talk to her and tell her how you feel. I'm sure she will understand. Don't worry, I'm sure things will work out.
