As see you by my bride I think I'm going to be a bit devilish this week
I want everyone to be able to think outside the box. Maybe learn something about themselves.
So with that said!
For the past 3 years I have given myself a theme to the year.
2007-Year of Living outside the box 2008- Year of Challenge 2008- Year of living big
in 2007 I was a little sad and decided I needed a change. To make different choices and not go with the norm. I met my FH that year!
This year is not about spending money, or having big stuff (Or planning a big lavish wedding). Rather living life big! Not sitting at home on a Saturday night. Helping friends more. Giving more to charity. Making my life big and full.
I want to remind myself to not fall into rote and do the same thing every day. LIVE BIG!
So the question is:
If you had a theme this year, (this month, this week) what would it be? And how can that theme help you grow as a person?

Re: ~~*::*~~ MON QOTD ~~*::*~~
this year is all about doing the right thing for myself. I am always soo concerned with everyone else that I never have time to for me . So this year i have been saying no to people (which is huge for me) and taking care of my body , daily vitamins, exercise , moisturizing ..the small things that I never do bc i am so busy

I would have to agree with a lot of what you said. This year for me is and has been living life for me and no one else. I have put myself and my feelings on the back burner for way too long. I have finally started saying 'no' to people....which was and is really hard but I am not going to be 'guilted' into doing something that I don't want to do. I have learned more recently than ever that people are selfish and that even family members can be terrible people and that it is ok to remove yourself from their life if they are hurtful and mean towards you.
Since my mom passed in 2007, I have not been the same person I used to be, understandably so. I have dwindled down the number of 'friends' I keep and have re-focused myself on my FH, my sister and my dad. Losing someone close to you is hard but when it is a parent I don't think you ever recover from that and it is very hard for people to understand.
So my focus for this year is to do things that are best for me and the people who I care most about. To try not to sweat the small stuff and to omit as much of the drama out of my life as possible.

Re: ~~*::*~~ MON QOTD ~~*::*~~
I have two themes for 2009:
1. Make it out alive: I have so much going on my schedule is crazy.
2. Self Improvement: I unfortunately realized who my true friends were this year and realized alot about myself and I just want to make myself happy, make myself a better person all around, and make sure my relationship with FH stays amazing!
One theme for 2010:
1. Relax

This would be the year for changes as well. We got married in January, are moving to VA/D.C. in August/September. Leaving a company I have been working with since 2005. All exciting, stressful, and scary at the same time.

I'd say this is my year to 'MAKE IT COUNT'
We are doing everything we want, big wedding, we just got our apt, we are both doing very well at work, families are both great, we booked our DREAM vacation for our HM. We're just getting things done and making everything count and trying to not take anything for granted.

My theme for this year would be CHANGE. Everything is changing so quickly. Some good and some bad- I am not sure what the lesson is in all of it but maybe after it is over I will figure it out.

I don't think I have a theme...I've never been good at this type of thing, or resolutions, or anything like that.
This year's theme has been misery I think. The first half of 2009 has been the worst year of my life, for many reasons. A lot of hardship, sadness, stress, etc.
I've made a decision. As of 7/1, the year WILL turn around. And it's theme will be happiness.

Re: ~~*::*~~ MON QOTD ~~*::*~~
This is a great question!
For me the 2 years my motto has been 'to be truly independent, you have to learn it's ok to be dependent'
I have been on my own financially since I was 18 (graduated HS at 16) and moved out of my house when I was in my very early 20's. I paid for college myself, bought my own cars, etc. I always had a problem asking people for help (not financial help, but emotional support as well).
This actually caused some issues in my relationship because FH never felt needed. I was 38 when we met and I was used to being dependent only on myself. I have had to learn (and I still struggle with it) that I don't have to do everything. That I have a partner to share my life with and it's ok if I lean on him - that's what he's there for.
So this is the year of taking the help that people are offering! It's ok that I don't do everything myself.

Re: ~~*::*~~ MON QOTD ~~*::*~~
well it depends on how I would answer this question. .
I usually go on a yoga retreat in november where we set intentions. .themes and mine was 'return to your source' which means to me just be honest with who I am, trust in my instincts, and to not make my decisions, reactions etc be based on external factors but to trust me and love who I am. !!!
but the theme the world gave to me. . was. . keep breathing. .there is love all around. . had many HUGE curve balls this year, family issues, financial disasters etc but also just surrounded by love of family, my now DH, and some amazing friends (new and old). . so I don't know. it's been intense!!

I am also going to be married when im 39, so I get what you are saying about being independant.....and knowing I CAN lean on Jason.
