I thought of this last night when I was going to bed, since my life seems to be filled with drama and people demanding things from our wedding.
So my question today is:
Is there someone or a group of people who have pressured you to do something either due to tradition or their own wants for your wedding that you never wanted to do? And are you going to do it?
For me, my family is chill (my parents had a 14 guest wedding!). The demands are coming from FMIL. In fact, my sister just kicked her off the Shower host list, after her Margarita mix favors, Lace Umbrella, and shower games demands (I am NOT a bride that likes things like umbrellas at a shower. Wedding bells, etc.). I just want things nice and simple, and that concept seems to escape some people!

That would be my mom who doesnt want me to have a wedding bc i was married before. In fact, yesterday she told me she's paying to finish my kitchen. That includes redoing all my electric, redoing my floor, countertops, sink which is a fortune and all new appliances. Yeah easy 10k but hasnt offered $ for our wedding.

Nothing major. The only thing I got annoyed at was when my FMIL said we NEED to buy jordan almonds and tulle bags to go along with the favors.
Yeah, I get it. It's a tradition. But really, it's a necessity?

my mom has been killing me lately with teh guest list! shes like 'you need to cut people, you dont need THAT many friends at your wedding'
uhmmmmm...shes inviting neighbors and friends of hers that I havent seen in years...sigh. so I told her she can pay for those people and she got a little ticked off, BUT after she took the dog for a walk and cooled down she agreed =)
I don't wanan cut my friends! there is no way we can anyway, im sorry we are so nice to people! lol

no demands so far. both sets have been very cool about everything they only thing they wanted that we didn't was an eparty so we had a very simple one at FIL's and it was great! happy we did it

Fh actually has been adament about wearing flip flops! I was like ok fine but just not to church!
And he parents want us to get married at his church. I mean I get it and I love his church I'm just annoyed that it's not an option to choose.

Not at all really. This wedding is pretty much all me and FH. We're not doing some of the traditional wedding stuff - like garter toss/bouquet toss - but no one seems to mind or care. I guess the only thing that was a little non-traditional that my mom questioned was my yellow shoes - she thought I should really wear white. But once she saw them she realized how cute it was and how nice they will look in pictures so she cool now

my sister got married last year so she thinks she gets to tell my how to do my wedding...
but i think the most annoying part is that my family is comparing everything i am doing with my wedding with what she did for hers... I AM A DIFFERENT PERSON!!

FUTURE MOTHER IN LAW!!!!
1- I didn't want an engagement party - she did - we had one.
2- I wanted a small wedding - she said it had to be a big wedding - we're guarenteeing 175 people!
3- I wanted to get married on the beach - she said we HAD to get married in a church - I went and got confirmed and now we are getting married in their church.
I could continue but I'll just leave it at that.

Yep. FMIL is trying to force us to have Dancing Queen played at our wedding!!! Doesn't she understand this is going to EMPTY the dance floor!!!!
That's actually just the smallest of her 1001 'requests' which are more like demands for our wedding!
I think I might have to 'accidentally' forget to put dancing queen on our DJ must play list

You and your friends eat korean food every single day. It will not kill you to have it for one meal of your life.

I have been really lucky! No demands from anyone...everyone is letting me (and FH, although he knows I love planning and only puts his two cents in on things he finds important, like the band) plan this how I want. And I love everyone for it
Only small thing is that FMIL told me there would have to be 'some' irish music played at the wedding.....? First of all, I am 100% ok with 1 song. Not a slew of them. I want everyone to dance all night....a bunch of irish songs is not on my playlist! But 1 I am more than ok with I kept quiet about it, for now. We'll see if it comes up again.
And I'm like......'but I'm not irish!! At all!!!' I come from a huge italian family haha

Not really. Two little things - for me at least 1 - we wanted a destination wedding but he has an aunt who wouldnt be able to go and he is super close so we had it hear.
2 - He didnt want to get married in a church, I did. I agreed to get married at the hall. His mother told him he had to get married in the church and he said okay (mama's boy!). She thinks she won that battle but she just took my side:)
