So ladies, let's be honest.

A. How much would you like to get in $$ gifts?

I would love to break even, lol. But I don't see that happening.

I'm assuming we might get around $20K

FH and I hope we'll get back 1/2. Anything more then that will be great but not expected.

I agree- that's what I've always given, even as a poor college student.

In all likely hood, this will not be the case. LOL!]

A: I'd like to cover at least half and get $15-20k.
B: I expect about $10k, maybe more because FILs wanted to help pay for the wedding but we declined and said if they felt strongly about it they could give it to us as a gift after the wedding.

$75, whoa!! I can see my family write out checks the day of, after asking what everyone else gave.

People really do this?! I mean last minute in the car heading over, sure, but to fill out a check AT the wedding? Eff that, they can take that check and shove it!

I really doubt we'll break even. If both sides are Chinese then maybe. The Chinese are very generous when it comes to wedding.
On my side the standard for 2 people coming is like $200 minimum. Then if the whole family comes the 'gift' goes up.
NO idea about FI's side.
All I gotta say is his brother & SIL better get us a sweet gift off our registry! We get them the KitchenAid Mixer and that's when it just came out so it was almost $300 and we were poor poor college students. And they never ended up having a REAL wedding!

I'm thinking we'll probably get maybe 60% of the cost back? I'll be happy with 50%!!

Both my brothers made money on theirs!

That's what I get for marrying a white guy! hehe.

Yup the peruvians! FH family doesn't get away though, because from what I hear they are, how do i say it, meticulous with money.

i would like a lot. but i dont really expect it. o well. i just hope peopel give decent amounts. honestly, anything less than 100 per person is just RUDE.

i think 150 is more standard for prices, but i dont think everyone knows that...unfortunately...especially not the older people.

we'll see.....

agreed - we're paying $150 pp at the RH so to get that back would be perfect. it would still only be HALF the cost of the wedding, but i'll expect half and hope for more.

los dominicanos son peor (segun FH)

I hope to get around 18-20. MY brother got that much and he invited a younger crowd, some who werent so generous. Since im inviting the old family friends, maybe they wont be stingy.
