I think it's the norm to have BMs buy their own dress, right? Are you making them buy matching shoes that you choose or wear their own based on your specifications?
Is everyone paying for their own hair and makeup or will you pay for that too?
Are they chipping in for the bridal shower? bachelorette party?
Are you paying for their hotel rooms?
Are you buying their DOJ?

My girls are paying for there dresses there alterations are free one of my sister-in-laws mom is a seamstress....they are buying there own shoes and paying for there own hair....My mom is paying for the Shower she feels bad that 3 of my bridesmaids are my sister-in-laws and there husbands my brothers and there kids are all in the bridal party she felt it was to much for them to spend. I bought them the DOJ.

Mine are paying for their own dresses, alterations, and shoes. And whatever purse they want to use if they don't already have one. I bought them their DOJ and Pashmina.
For the shower, they didn't put much in, my mother paid for most, so just some here and there for games, decorations, etc. Some put in, and some didn't at all.
For the bachelorette party, they all paid their way and covered mine.

My girls will probably buy their own dresses. Hair and make-up are on their own because everyone has their own tastes. Shoes, depending on color, they may have to buy those (but I'll find really inexpensive ones).
Bridal shower: My mom, FMIL, and family might help with this one so the girls may not have to put in anything...
Hotel rooms: it depends if they want to stay or not. Some of my BMs live OOT...
DOJ: Again with color, whatever they want to wear (otherwise this will be a gift from me)

Yes, I agree it's the norm for the BP to buy their own dresses and shoes (I let mine choose their own dress, and as long as the shoes were silver, they didn't have to buy new ones). I believe it's part of being in the BP to pay for those things...the understanding is that when it's their turn, you will do the same for them :) As part of their gifts, I paid for their hair and their DOJ. They chose to pay for their own makeup (no pressure). The bridal shower is usually paid for by the BP and the bride's mom...in my case, my sisters paid for the entire thing (my mother is very dysfunctional...long story that has nothing to do with this post lol!). I didn't pay for their hotel rooms but we did have a Post Nuptial Brunch the following day for everyone that stayed in the hotel the night of our wedding.

I didn't want my BM's to have to spend a ton of money, so I just had them pay for the dress and everything else was optional. My BM dresses were black, so I told them to pick and wear their own shoes as long as they were peep toed. On the day-of, I paid for their makeup as part of their BM gifts...I also bought them their day-of jewelry as part of their gift.

We haven't chosen BM dresses yet but my girls will be paying for their own dresses/alterations and shoes. They'll pay for their own hair & m/u too...if they choose to get it done. I dunno any deets about my b-party, although they keep asking me what I want to do. My mom is throwing my shower and will not accept any money from my friends (BM's).

EVERYONE ELSE EITHER DID THEIR MAKEUP & HAIR OR PAID THEMSELVES.

My BMs are paying for their dresses, hotel stay (which is optional), hair and make-up. They are also contributing to the bridal shower and bachelorette party. They are amazing ladies.
I am not requesting them to buy matching shoes, they can wear any black pair they want. Also, I should mention that I left hair and make-up optional, but all want to get it done. I am buying them their DOJ in addition to a very nice BM gift.

My BM are paying for their dresses including alterations and shoes (any silver strappy one they like). They are responsible for hair and makeup if they want, I think all decided on getting their hair done, not all are getting makeup to save. My mom is paying for the shower and they are paying for the bachelorette party. As for the DOJ that is my present to them!!
