I actually haven't and won't see the movie. I have seen biographies about her so i know the story. I have friends who saw it and told me the general sense they got from it..That they make people empathize with her and her situation..Blaming her childhood and upbringing as causes for her actions.. Which can be possibly true. But i guess i just can't watch anything that would make the public feel bad for that nasty person..
I mean really ...if hitlers mom spanked him cause he was a bed wetter...causing him to go on to attempt to annihilate an entire population of people...would you feel bad for him? Or even if her was beated silly everyday as a child...would you feel bad for osama bin ladin?...I wouldn't

it's not so much that i felt bad for HER i felt bad for the entire situation in general....yes her actions were disgusting....but seriously..take a look at the movie - there are 2 sides to a story. NOT that it was forgivable. But it may clarify why she did what she did.

Re: Monster...
i dont think she should be compared to hitler or osoma bin laden. thats alittle extreme in my opinion., but i def think you should see the movie. i hope that maybe seeing it will help you be alittle more open minded on theis subject. i dont think the movie blames it on her childhood. actually it doesnt really tlak about it too much. yes, since she killed 7 people they consider it 'serial' killer... BUT if you notice, most serial killers kill for thrill, for excitement. (ex, Manson, ed Gain, etc) Of course im not saying it makes it any less sad that 7 people are now dead. Of course she was wrong, and im sure she knows it. She claims most were in self-defense. I can see how that can be hard to belive. I DEF belive the first guy was. But thats besides the point. Im sure it is possible that they could all have been self defense, but i dont belive they all were. i feel sorry for her b/c of many reasons. and i dont blam her childhood, but i do belive that it was a large factor. it seems like nothing ever went right in her life as a child. but we all make our own life. we all make our own decisions. what bothers me most is when people say all this stuff about how the movie tried to 'humanize' her... when the truth is she WAS human. She made some horrible mistakes, no doubt. But viewing her in candidness, she seems like a real person you would meet anyday. She didnt seem 'creepy' or anything like that. ONce again, i am not defending things she did... i just feel the whole entire case was not taken care of properly. and now this next comment is just IMHO, and i know not everyone will agree withit... i dont think that ANYONE should die... but any guy picking up a hitchiking hooker can not be a decent man to begin with. MY opinion only.

Re: Monster...
1. IMO she did murder for the thrill and the pleasure of killing them. IMO she vented all her inner anger about the world and how she has been treated on her jons...She was a prostitute..you can't say that the marks she got were from any of her victims per say..So saying that she did anything out of self defense is entirely her side of the story which i believe was created to keep her out of jail and not on death row.
2. Yes you are right, maybe i would feel differently if i see the movie..I have watch millions of biographies on serial killer and read profiler books. I have watched Aileens own biography on some crime story program many times..I DO think this movie wanted the public to empathize...something i am not prepared to do!
3. She says that she was beaten and then why she would she keep doing things that put her in the same situation (i know i know..patterns of abuse, no outlets no support) We can't be ther holding everyones hand everyday of their lives.. IMO it is just another reason for me to not empathize with her......and didn't she also steal from her victims???
4. 'when the truth is she WAS human. She made some horrible mistakes, no doubt. But viewing her in candidness, she seems like a real person you would meet anyday. She didnt seem 'creepy' or anything like that.'
I think she DEFINATELY WAS CREEPY...You have seen her on tv haven't you. The woman is a nasty pig..THere is no two ways about that...And to be honest, i don't view anyone like her to be human but an animal...I know that is a callous thing to say but i do...

Re: Monster...
oh ... the marks werent on her.. they were on the car steering wheel that she was tied to.
yes, she stole money from the victims. she claims she killed some of them to eliminate a witness.
i agree... if the first one was self defense (which is the only one i TRULY feel was) then why would she ever go hooking again????? she wouldnt have gotten caught i bet. who knows.
but i dont know.
may i ask why you so badly dont want to empathize?
lol as for being creepy... i thought she was a little.. but she always seemed very nice, polite, and sweet to Nick...... then again, shed hear something she didnt like and would go off cursing.

I can't see past the pain that the families of the vicitms, the pain that they must be dealing with...that takes all my sympathies...none is left for a murderer...
I have always been black and white like that...flaw maybe but that is who i am

no not just her but murderers in general... You would think i should be able to empathize with her as well as some other obviously mentally ill murderers but i can't..

technically, yes, but the guy had a series of past sex crimes. i cant look past that and just not belive that he intended harm for her. i would think that those sort of hookers are more of a wham bam thank you mam type deal. i will try to find more evidense on the first case. i know you feel bad for the guy since he lkilled him, but why dont you belive he maybe WAS going to hurt her (worse than what he did do)

yes i can believe that he did want to hurt her...and a part of me thinks...well that goes along with the hooker lifestyle...not as an excuse but it is, shall we say a job hazard. DO you think that was the first guy to abuse her?
AND didn't she shoot him?

'One study of a group of prostitutes said that they had been raped an average of 33 times a year. '
This is my point...Rape is a job hazzard of hookers...the majority do not kill!

Re: Monster...
i know, i agree.
i guess one of them wouldve died that night. and it was him. (of course this is if you belive she was raped, etc)
id probably kill someone who was raping me. then again, i could never be a prostitute.
i dont defend her killing him. or any of them. he would be the only one i can really undserstand... that being in self-defense...
my main thing really is that i dont think she was given a fair trial. her cases werent handled properly. this is my main opinon on the whole thing.

i find them interesting and fascinating as well. i dont know why, but i am really intrigued by all of their stories. (i just watched one about manson & that squeky chick) i never have empathized either. just her. i cant give a real reason why. just a weird feeling in me i guess.

Re: Monster...
what i find VERY interesting is that she had a gun!!! A gun bought for self protection...right? Well obviously she KNEW the hazzards of the job she had. And instead of looking and seeking out support or help from logical places...she bought a gun.. shows that she had every intention to kill IMO..BEFORE she met that guy!!!
